NFL fines JuJu Smith-Schuster, James Conner $5,000 for wearing socks too low

The NFL has sent a couple Steelers players an expensive reminder about pulling their socks up.

Steelers receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and running back James Conner have each been fined $5,000 for wearing their socks too low.

“During the Pittsburgh Steelers-Tennessee Titans game on October 25, 2020, you were in violation of the NFL Uniform and Equipment Rules,” the league said in a letter that Smith-Schuster posted to social media. “Specifically, your stockings failed to cover your lower leg.”

NFL players often complain that the league should have better things to do than police their socks, but the league continues to crack down on uniform violations, and two more players have found that out the hard way.

  1. The league office is a joke, let players hit officials, late hits, sucker punches’ , players ejected and this is their main concern. They can’t even get what the latest greatest concern with the virus. No wonder fans are turning off and turning out

  2. Yeah. Our packed sports bar were completely distracted and disgusted when some guy pointed out the WR with the low socks. The score no longer mattered; the clock became irrelevant. We were offended. Eventually, a bartender flipped the tvs to other games, and patrons drifted through the exits.

  3. 5K for wearing low socks. 12K for almost removing Andy Daltons head from his shoulders. Sounds about right….

  4. Sorry Conner, I’m going to have to bring the hammer down and bench you in my fantasy league this week. I need to have better character guys on my team.

  5. It sounds like the NFL needs money. I liken it to getting a speeding ticket in a 25 mph zone doing 28 mph.

  6. 5k each for wearing their socks incorrectly while Bostic was fined only 12k for an illegal hit that injured the opposing QB…. smh….

  7. For the huge salaries they make to play a game, at least they could do is dress right. Its not too hard or too much to ask when you get paid a CEO type salary.

  8. It is amazing that the NFL has resources to monitor garbage like “socks too low” but cannot monitor when coaches and other non-player personnel on the sidelines are not wearing their masks to prevent the spread of covid. Why cannot these “sock watchers” also check that team personnel are also following covid protocols? But I guess they are too busy with that important socks requirement.

  9. Many of them don’t know how to wear their pants and now you want them to master socks too? Shame on employers for having dress codes.

You hit the nail on the head. The NFL mask mandate is a joke. Very few people on the sidelines are wearing them correctly, or they take them down when they talk to someone…LOL. Plus, the face shields they are allowing, are completely useless without a mask behind.

  11. I wonder if they fine you for wearing your socks to high? Socks with crocks may be a suspension.
