Seahawks didn’t expect Bills to pass as much as they did

The Bills ran for 190 yards in their Week 8 win over the Patriots and it seems that had a lot of impact on how the Seahawks put together their defensive game plan for Week 9.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said after Sunday’s 44-34 loss that the Seahawks were expecting to see Buffalo keep the ball on the ground. Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll went a different way, however.

The Bills ran the ball 16 times excluding three Josh Allen kneeldowns and Allen threw 38 times. He completed 31 of them for 415 yards.

“These guys didn’t even try to run the football today,” Carroll said, via Joe Fann of NBCSportsNorthwest.com. “We didn’t expect that to happen. We didn’t think they would totally abandon the running game. We had a real nice plan for how they were gonna run it. We have to be able to adapt better.”

Seattle was missing Shaquill Griffin at corner and Carroll said Quinton Dunbarhad a tough day” trying to keep up with the Bills receivers. He wasn’t alone on that front and the Seahawks will have to do a better job of adapting in the weeks to come.

  1. Gives Pete five year extension…gets out-coached by a mile. But that’s OK…they surely will draft some great players next…oh…wait…we traded away out future…

  2. How in the world with the most horrendous pass defense in the league would you not expect them to pass a ton?

  3. Ya blame it on bad defense game plan…lol was it in your offense plans to let your QB get nailed a NFL season high 16 times? Simply buffalo was a better team today on off/def&spec teams. Josh is becoming a true franchise QB with a team around him that is only going to get better. GO BILLS!!!!

Because Pete Carroll is senile that’s how. And they just extended him 5 years 😂

No worries. He won’t remember he signed the extension

  6. Brock Huard, announcer on Fox, Who is this guy? So biased to the Seahawks. He’s on a first name basis, buds with everyone on Seattle. Ruined the game coverage.

  7. Seattles defense sucks. It is that simple – they won’t win the NFC. I don’t care if Wilson throws a hundred tds.

  8. It’s funny how the 49er fans are on here trash talking….

Seahawks 6-2 and 1st in the West
49ers 4-5 and last in the West

  9. Do the Hawks not realize they are the worst passing defense in the league? Why would anyone try to run, when you can throw on them all day?

  10. @8king
I truly can’t wait to see Wilson get nailed and you chumps have to deal with backups at every level and still have a competitive team. Ultimately Wilson will get hurt and then see where you chumps stand after that

  11. I’m passing against the Seahawks until they show they can stop it….every week. Still; Seahawks have no need to panic. They need to address this weakness, but they remain the number 2 NFC seed at the end of week 9. Unless the TB/NO SNF game ends in a tie. Then, they are the top seed in NFC.

    _____________

If he throws 100 TDS, they won’t lose another game. The problem is, he has not maintained ball security and the Defense can’t help mask those errors.

  13. Trading 2 1sts and a 3rd for Adams along with thinking a team was gonna run against the worst pass defense in the NFL is a Bill O’Brien level offense. It should be firable.. ya know, if you didn’t just give the coach a 5 year extension.

  14. Seahawks are fine. Bills fan. East coast, garbage defense against a guy/ team that likes to throw it. I didn’t expect to win, but early on it it was evident. Bills dialed it up shd the hawks just weren’t ready – and still close. Steve C??? I guess you only come out when we lose. I’ll wait

  15. The Seahawks went into their second SB thinking that the Pats would do what got them their that year, power running off tackle and play action off the run game. The Seahawks held the Pats to 39yds in the first half and held the lead.

The Pats adjusted by abandoning the run game completely and went to quick short to intermediate passing game with Brady holding the ball an average of 2.19 seconds. Pete Carroll just didn’t adjust and lost the game.

  16. Man Chris Simms was right.
Jamal Adams really makes a huge difference.
The Dolphins would contain Kyler Murray

Huard was born in Seattle, played college ball at Washington & played 2 year for the Seahawks. “Homer” would be an understatement to describe him.
