Steelers place Kevin Dotson on COVID-19 reserve list

The Pittsburgh Steelers made it through nearly nine weeks of the regular season with no COVID-related issues. Things have definitely changed.

On the same day that four players who landed on the COVID-19 reserve list due to proximity to tight end Vance McDonald returned to the team, rookie offensive lineman Kevin Dotson was placed on COVID-19 reserve.

Via Mark Kaboly of TheAthletic.com, Dotson missed practice on Friday, with an illness.

It’s unclear if Dotson tested positive. If he did, there could be another wave of players knocked out due to contact tracing that puts them in proximity to Dotson.

A fourth-round pick in the 2020 draft, Dotson has played in all eight games this season, starting two.

His roster spot will be filled by safety Antoine Brooks Jr., who was elevated from the practice squad.

  1. At what point do we stop making a big deal about this?
Players go on this list and are back in a few days.
No stories of hospitalizations or near deaths,
you rarely hear of any of them suffering any serious symptoms.
I get it they don’t want to spread it to someone with a serious pre-condition,
but let’s stop the hysteria surrounding this.

Exactly!! Thankfully I live in an area that has mostly gone back to normal life
but feel really bad for those stuck in an oppressive enviroment.

Ryquell Armstead was hospitalized multiple times during his bout with covid with “significant respiratory issues” and is out for the year entirely due to covid and his career is probably over in his second season. Saying “NO HOSPITALIZATIONS” doesn’t make it true. It’s true that paranoia isn’t good but being careful and respecting the virus is good and will save lives.

Yes covid doesn’t seriously affect everyone and a lot of players who get it won’t have any problems. The NFL can force all the games to happen regardless of positives and even if something serious happens no one will notice unless it’s patrick mahomes. Like how no one knows or cares about Armstead. Doctors already see long term health issues coming from covid. Everyone who gets it also spreads it to more people which will lead to deaths in elderly family members somewhere down the line. It isn’t all just about how dangerous it is for you but how you’ll indirectly kill someone by passing it along and continuing the spread of it.
