Reports: Drew Lock has muscle strain, bruising near ribs

Tuesday brought some more information about Broncos quarterback Drew Lock‘s injury.

Broncos head coach Vic Fangio said that Lock was questionable to practice this week and play against the Dolphins this Sunday because of sore ribs. Lock played through the injury in last Sunday’s loss to the Raiders.

According to multiple reports, Lock is dealing with a muscle strain and bruising near his ribs. The Broncos haven’t made any decisions about his status for Sunday, but the nature of the injury has added to the uncertainty of his ability to make the start.

Jeff Driskel and Brett Rypien both started games when Lock was injured earlier in the season. The Broncos beat the Jets in Rypien’s start and has been serving as the backup in recent weeks.

Will the Broncos draft a new QB?
After 2 years he hasn’t done much.

At some point it isn’t the QB and its the development of the QB, or the lack of it. I grew up watching Reid and while McNabb was the starter during that period, his backups (Jeff Garcia doesn’t count) were all serviceable. Sure you can say its a eye for QB talent by the QB whisperer himself but it is definitely a sign of development.

All the QBs the Broncos have gone through yet there is still one common denominator. The Front Office.

My Dolphins will feast either way.

Without blocked punts and defensive TDs your dolphins are nothing but a 30th ranked offense and mediocre defense and my Bills will prove it to you in Week 17. Enjoy the flukey wins while they last

  3. Broncos gaffed yet again in a major way when they passed on drafting Josh Allen in 2018. They are still dealing with their QB situation 3 years later.

  4. The Worst Common Denominator for the Broncos is not the QB, It is whoever signed off on Allowing the Hiring of PAT SHURMUR as the OC. I have not even Researched his Ram yrs yet. The guy will only run the ball if his job is on the line like it was in 2017. Been slowly attempting to research teams records when rushing less then 20 times in a game. I found a list which featured what a teams record was when they did it less then 10 times in a game as in Running the ball. Only 1 win and 41 losses. This list only went up to 2008. Shurmur just going thru the Browns, Giants, Vikings, Broncos has done it 23 times with 2 wins. One against the Chargers this yr, the other a miracle win against the Bucs last yr with the Giants when the Bucs missed a short FG. There is no rhyme or reason to his playcalling. Its bad every year except for 2017 when his Job was on the line. John Defillipo got fired in Minnesota for not running the ball. Norv Turner fired himself in 2016 after starting 5-0 the team lost 2 games. He fired himself. Shurmur finished up with a 3-6 record in 9 games. Shurmur goes all pass, Pass, Pass in very winnable games
he was up 19-3 against the Eagles with the Giants did it. He lost a game by 3 to Detroit, another by 2 to the Cowboys. The game he was up 19-3 the Giants rushed 18-126.

  5. If they’d let Rypien play 3 or 4 games, and get in sync with the team, he’d easily be a better QB than Lock. The inability to evaluate QB’s throughout the Elway era is one of the most ironic things I’ve witnessed in sports. I would have assumed the opposite. Other than Peyton Manning, who completely ran the organization when he was there, they’ve looked clueless in the way they’ve drafted and managed that position.

  6. Drew Lock is a bust. It’s pretty clear that Lock isn’t good enough or consistent enough to be a full time starter in the NFL, Lock to me seems more like an ideal backup QB2 talent. Lock is incredibly injury prone as well, you cant be a starting QB if you’re getting injured every 6 weeks. I’d bet money the Broncos either draft a QB or bring a veteran free agent this off season & they will keep Lock around as a backup QB2 slash developmental QB.

Your uncertainty of your team is so obvious. Miami is finally playing team football and everyone knows they are going to win the division. INCLUDING YOU!
