Tua Tagovailoa lands on injury report with foot injury

The hip is fine. However, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has his first NFL injury.

After his third start, the rookie first-rounder has landed on the injury report with a foot problem. He nevertheless fully participated in practice on Wednesday, in advance of Sunday’s game at Denver.

The disclosure means that Tua is receiving treatment for the injury, but that it’s not keeping him from performing.

Tua’s history of injuries at the college level became a major concern prior to the draft. After Sunday’s win over the Chargers, I asked him about taking hits at the NFL level.

“I’ve taken a good amount already,” he said, “and I think that’s enough for me.”

Tua explained that he knows the hits will happen, but that he’s trying to be smart and slide when necessary.

There’s no reason to think the foot injury will keep Tua from playing on Sunday. However, it’s a reminder that contact will potentially lead to more injuries. Ideally, all mobile quarterbacks will find a way to use their legs and their brains to avoid taking hits.

  1. He’s playing Sunday and will be fine. On the other hand its good to know you have Fitz in the bull pen who could easily start. My hope is that the Dolphins continue to make many more “poor decisions” that get them players of Tua’s caliber. Keep up the good work!

  2. Flores is doing what Belichick did with Brady. Expect to see that foot on the injury report every week for the next twenty years.

Guess who is losing on Sunday?
    —————————————————————-

Worst case scenario, Ryan fitzpatrick is a great backup… Who the bronco’s got? cause it ain’t drew lock

  4. I like the kid, shows resiliency. With that being said he should be real real careful with that NFL ain’t that hard thing, plus injury. Teams will be licking their chops

  5. He’s going to have to stand in the pocket a little more now. Gotta grow up real quick.

  6. Karma is finally on the Fins side. Even a seemingly shocking headline isn’t so bad when you read the details. On Sunday, if the Texans lose, paired with a Washington, Jets & Jax win, Miami will be at the doorstep to the #1 overall pick in both the 1st AND 2nd rounds of the upcoming NFL draft – courtesy of Bill O’Brien. If Houston wins, then you can finally stick a fork in the Cheaters. Oh, and if we win, we’re tied for 1st place in the East. After 20 rough years, it’s as if the order is being restored in the AFC.

  7. He has had 5 surgeries while in college. I don’t believe he will be able to withstand the punishment of a full NFL season. I am afraid it won’t end well for him. But I wish him well.

  8. Whether your limping entering the league. Or healthy entering the league.

YOU WILL END UP LIMPING LEAVING THE GAME. Haters will hate, but this kid is awesome. Flores is just doing league mandated injury reporting. Trolls move on…
