Mike Tomlin: Steelers have no new positive tests, want to play on Tuesday night

As far as Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is concerned, Tuesday night’s game against the Ravens is on.

Tomlin told Jay Glazer of FOX Sports that none of his players tested positive in yesterday’s round of COVID-19 testing and the Steelers are ready to go.

“I want to play this game on Tuesday,” Tomlin said.

The game has already been delayed twice, first from Thanksgiving night to this afternoon, and then from this afternoon to Tuesday night, because of an outbreak on the Ravens. When the Steelers then had multiple positive tests of their own, there were concerns that the game couldn’t be played this week.

But the NFL thinks the Ravens’ situation is improving, and the Steelers think they’re going to be ready to go. Much can change in the next 48 hours or so, but the game appears to be going forward.

  1. Of course he wants to play. The Ravens are a sinking ship even with their starters. Plus either way Whinebaugh is going to snivel even though the team again has received special treatment from Roger

  2. Ravens outplayed the steelers a few weeks back and lost in a fluky game with many questionable calls. Trippin Tomlin is rightfully scared of this Ravens squad.

Of course he does. He’s scared of the Ravens at full strength in week 18.

Or, more likely, he does not want to play a game on what he is hoping is a bye week for his team while the rest of the AFC is resting.

Even if Balt wins, the division is over. Nice try though.

  5. Tomlin doesn’t want to be the only game in week 18 while all of the teams with worse records get a bye. The Steelers are better off losing Tuesday than playing a week 18 game while everyone else rests. (They won’t lose though.)

  6. The Steelers keep getting screwed because the Ravens are doing a poor job of managing the covid. One of the Ravens strength coaches was written up for not following the covid protocols – thereby helping the spread the virus around the Ravens team. At some point, punish the team who is not following the covid protocols and make the Ravens forfeit a game. That will get the attention of every team in the NFL to take precautions like they should.

  7. The Steelers QB coach Canada test positive yet the starting QB is not considered a close contact.

Everyone knows Ben makes up his own plays.

According to the PG, the Steelers rarely hold in person meetings. All meetings are either on Zoom or are outdoors with masks and proper distancing. Same protocol that all teams are expected to follow.

  10. Matt Canada did not test positive. He is sick with a non-Covid illness. Those still exist, remember?
