Eagles add Jordan Howard to active roster

As the Eagles try to figure out how to beat the Packers in Green Bay on Sunday, they’ve officially brought back a man who played a key role in winning there last year.

The Eagles elevated running back Jordan Howard from the practice squad on Saturday.

In a 2019 win by the Eagles at Lambeau Field, Howard gained 115 yards from scrimmage. He scored three touchdowns.

Acquired via a trade with the Bears after three seasons in Chicago, Howard finished his rookie contract with Philadelphia. He then left in free agency for the Dolphins.

Miami cut Howard last month. The Eagles re-signed him to the practice squad. He now gets a chance to do on Sunday that which he did last September.

  1. Unless the Eagles actually plan to stick with their run game, this move won’t mean much. Sanders and Scott are so underused it’s comical.

  2. Are the Eagles really just openly showing their desperation? Normally the only team in the NFL that panics and makes desperate moves is the Vikings.

The Eagles D is legit. I think the Packers win, but I also think this will be a good football game on Sunday afternoon.

  3. If there is a weakness on the packers, it’s their run defense. If the eagles can sustain drives via the run and control the clock early, they might be able to gash them late. With a decent game plan, this could be an upset special. Between this game and the Washington/ Pittsburgh game, I don’t know who should be on upset alert more. But, i expect Driscoll playing RT to help a lot and I definitely think this game will be closer than a lot people anticipate.

  4. I’ve seen the Eagles play twice this year. Both games looked the same on offense. The runningbacks are terrible. Pass blocking, running the ball, and worst of all as outlets they are never where they are expected to be. J. Howard doesn’t even have to make plays and he’ll be a major upgrade. They will look more in rythm, convert more 3rd downs and have less 3rd and longs to deal with because of this move. I hate that it happened this week, but this will make a difference for them. Maybe just getting the RB coach fired in the offseason if nothing else.
