Kirk Cousins is the NFC offensive player of the week

The Vikings had a disappointing season, but they were able to end it with a win.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins‘ play had something to do with that. Cousins went 28-of-40 for 405 yards and three touchdowns as the Vikings held off the Lions for a 37-35 win. Cousins also ran for a touchdown and benefitted from a highly questionable roughing the passer penalty on the way to victory.

The NFL announced that Cousins was named the NFC’s final offensive player of the week for the 2020 season on Wednesday. It’s the second time that Cousins has taken the prize this season and the sixth time in his career.

Cousins and the Vikings will be back to try for more than individual accolades later this year.

  3. Definitely an up and down season, but we knew going into this year that it was going to be somewhat of a re-load year. Even after our offense got HOT, the injuries just piled up too high to compete. Excited to see what this young club will do in the future, especially with budding superstars in Justin Jefferson and Dalvin Cook.

  6. These clowns constantly commenting and bashing Cousins are beyond clueless. The guy ran a top offense all year long and put up plenty of points. I thought that was his job. It’s his fault that the defense was awful and the kicking was erratic.. Ok… got it.

    I agree! I don’t get this garbage time deal. Out of all the losses Minnesota average is 9.4 a game in defeat. ATL and New Orleans were only two true blow outs. Even in the New Orleans game they were only down by 4 at the end of the 3 quarter. Three games cost them the play offs. Seattle, Dallas and the Titans game, a play here or there and the Vikes are 10-6. But it is what it is.

    How many games has Cousins missed since he has been a Viking? None. He is durable, he has thrown for 25 or more touchdowns every year he has been here. The offense finished in the top 5. Yes ahead of Green Bay at number 4.

    Really excited for Irv Smith Jr and Conklin, TE look great, However tha probably means the exit of Kyle Rudolph.

    Defensively, Gladney and Danztler had a baptism by fire but got better every single week when not hurt. They will be much improved. There is also a rumor that Everson Griffin has hinted on his Twitter he would like to come back. Do it at the vet minimum and make him a 3rd down pass rush specialist. Pierce will be back, dunno about Barr, Wilson played pretty well in his absence.

    My biggest conern is Special teams but it seems Zim has already taken care of that.

  11. Cousins had a bad start to the season, but in the last 10 games he had 69.2% completions, 2,790 yards, 24 TDs, and 3 INTs for a 113.6 passer rating.

    In his last 10 games, Patrick Mahomes had 67.6% completions, 3,266 yards, 25 TDs, and 5 INTs for a 108.7 passer rating.

    If Cousins could ever put together a full consistent season, he would look amazing. He usually has a hard time getting started or a hard time finishing.

  12. Part of the blame for this lack luster season should go to the offensive line. Cousins needs time to make throws.
    That said, he isn’t bad when he rolls out & throws down field.

  13. we get it. if Aaron Rodgers doesn’t win another Super Bowl, it’s all Aaron’s fault. when Kirk doesn’t even make the playoffs, it’s someone else’s fault.
