Davante Adams: Jalen Ramsey is one of three or four “super elite” corners

USA Today Sports

Though he played only 14 games this season, Davante Adams firmly established himself as being among the league’s elite wide receivers. He finished tied for second with 115 receptions, registering 1,374 yards with a league-leading 18 touchdowns.

So if there’s any matchup worth watching during Saturday’s divisional-round matchup between the Packers and Rams, it’s between Adams and cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

Adams said Wednesday that he knows Ramsey does a lot of talking on the field, but the corner’s play backs it up.

“He’s at the top of that list, for sure. I think there are three or four super elite corners, and he’s definitely one of those guys,” Adams said, via Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “Honestly I don’t see a whole lot of talking. It’ll probably get a little chippy every now and then, but I’ve got respect for him and, based on our conversations, I’m sure he’s got respect for me.”

Adams added he wouldn’t disrespect any corner — including Ramsey — but he’s not planning to change the way he prepares this week.

Both Adams and Ramsey received first-team All-Pro honors in 2020 and they’ll probably display why against one another this weekend.

  1. Cant wait to watch Adams hang 12 receptions, 150 yards and a couple of TD’s on this arrogant clown… he needs a good spanking

  2. Will be a fun matchup to watch between Davante and Jalen. But as A-Rod said today, the Rams play a lot of Cover 2, so there won’t be as much man to man as one might think.

This will be a epic game to watch for a lot of reasons. Is it Saturday yet?

  3. Ramsey is overrated. Sure, he makes some good plays, but he also gets torched a little too much to be considered elite.

  4. There really arent shut down corners like there used to be but Ramsey is definitely one of the top 3 or 4 guys if not the best.

  5. Go Rams!!! This is a solid matchup and its dangerous as a Rams fan now that ARod has a good coach!!!!!

  6. Kickoff @ 3:35 PM. 2nd half played under the lights in the cold January air at the Mecca of football. Temps will be in the high teens, flurries possible. 2 good teams, some great players. Sudden death elimination game. The sound of pads crackin’. Folks this is what it’s all about. This is what we’ve been waiting for.

  7. One of those other “super elite” guys is Jaire Alexander, and Adams plays against him every week at practice.

Adams projection for this week: 6 catches, 84 yards, 2 TDs.

  8. Practice and real game situations are two different things. packer fan ignorance. The Ram
D-line will make aaron throw quickly, he will not have time to run around and let adams get open. adams projection: 3 catches 29 yards 1 bruised ego.
