Mike Evans: At this point in his career, Tom Brady is playing chess

For Tom Brady, this is old hat (or old helmet?). The quarterback is playing in his 14th championship game.

Eighteen seasons, his teams have made the postseason, and only three of those times did Brady not win at least one playoff game.

But this is a new experience for these Buccaneers.

The franchise is in the conference championship game for the first time since 2002. In fact, they had played only 15 postseason games in franchise history before Brady’s arrival.

The Bucs are along for Brady’s ride.

“He’s the greatest player to ever play the game,” Evans said. “You add him on any roster, and I’m sure the outcome would be somewhat like this. He always gets his team to the playoffs. He’s a winner. He’s a natural-born winner, leader, all that. At this point in his career, he’s just playing chess, and we’re definitely very happy he’s on our side.”

  1. yes…everyone gave BB the credit for playing chess, but it has become clear that it was actually Brady playing chess.

  2. Come on now. BB and Brady needed each other plus all the other coaches and players to be successful. In any ultimate team sport, it’s always a team result not an individual.

Lets see how he does without 4 extra possessions and a short field..

    I’m sure he’s worried

Tom Brady vs a Mike Pettin coached defense
    10-3 24 tds 5 Ints. 270 passing per game.

  4. As customary, many of these comments are laughable. Clear illustration that no matter what Brady ever achieves for some there will always be caveat. It’s his defenses, Belichick, his offensive line, AFC East and the always reliable “referee favoritism.” Gotta give ’em some some credit though; Brady keeps proving ’em wrong year after year but they keep plowing forward with another manufactured excuse.

  5. Put him behind the Bengals offensive line from this past season and I bet it’s a miracle
he makes it out of training camp!! Burrow is almost have his age and I don’t care
how much seaweed and snake oil Tom Brady puts in his body daily!! He might as well being
wearing concrete blocks instead of cleats!
