Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown will not play in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Packers.

Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians said today that Brown’s knee injury will keep him from playing at Green Bay.

Arians said yesterday that Brown would be a game-time decision, but apparently Brown isn’t making the kind of progress that would allow him to be ready to go by Sunday.

Despite the absence of Brown, Tom Brady will have a wealth of weapons on Sunday, with receivers Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Scott Miller and Tyler Johnson, running backs Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones, and tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Cameron Brate.

  1. I’m just worried about Godwin dropping balls and if Fournette is productive. It’s going to be a good game. The Packers look like the team to beat in my opinion (I wouldn’t bet on this game). I hope Brady works some miracles. The Bucs got a lot weapons so Brown missing this game is not a huge deal, but I love to watch him play. He is a playmaker.

  2. no.. Brown missing this game is a HUGE deal. His presence alone opens things up for other players

  3. He has been a bit of a non-factor of late hasn’t he????

    45 catches for 480 yard and 4 Td’s

I guess you could make a case he is going to be missed….

  4. Both teams are fairly healthy. No player or team is 100% this time of year.

Can’t wait for the game. Let’s see what happens. Going to be a real battle.

It’s great when you get a Champ game with the actual 2 best teams in the conference. We have that with both the AFC and NFC this season.

  5. It helps the Packers, but Scotty Miller and Tyler Johnson both made big plays in the Week 6 matchup. I’m more interested in the health and availability of JPP.

  6. Although he didn’t show the dominant speed and run after catch ability that he was known for in Pitt, he was still a very good #3 option for Brady. However, Scotty Miller is a very good player himself, and because of that, plus having multiple quality TE on the roster, I don’t see Brown being out having a huge impact on the result of the game.

JPP hasn’t practiced since like week 17 and plays. It is common that he does not practice he is a vet and already knows what they need of him.

  8. He could have been that extra dynamic that changed everything. The thing about Brown is that as soon as you think you can count on him something happens to let you down. Having Vita Vea back healthy is the thing you really would like see. Buc’s were able to control that great Packer run game in the their 1st meeting. Do that again and you just might get to the SB.

  9. I love how a rookie 5th round draft pick with 12 catches on the year and Scotty Miller who had 10 career catches coming into this year with Brady are being touted as amazing weapons who can just step right in for AB. Godwin and Evans are both banged up. Gronk is nowhere close to the “weapon” he once was and Brate is a solid tight end, nothing special. Honestly Rodgers has better weapons than Brady with AB out but the Brady haters will always make it seem like he’s the only one that has good players on his team.

  10. Tampa is not fairly healthy. Both corners are banged up and were in and out of the last game. They are about to go against the top QB and receiver in the league right now. The writing is on the wall for this game. Only flukes will change what is about to happen.

  11. That’s alright. Rest up for the Super Bowl and we’ll see him out there then.

  12. Would love the Bucs to have a great day and win this game but the Packers are so consistently good this year. Pack wins by 17 or more.

  13. Why does anyone believe a word from Tampa? They are probably lying about it. Brady brought his lying and cheating techniques to Tampa so just watch brown end up playing.

  14. Vita Vea is active. Very big deal. Barrett and Pierre Paul will now get sacks.

Interesting… take a look at the Packer’s schedule. What top teams have they beaten? Very few. They likely have the edge in this game but it is not by alot. Going to be a close game.

It matters but Brady’s won Superbowls with a lot less than what he has at WR right now.

  16. can someone please explain to me how someone that’s been charged with rape, assault and other serious crimes in the last year even be allowed on an NFL field?

    Please explain.

According to Patriot fans, Deion Branch, Troy Brown, Danny Amedola, PEDleman and Chris Hogan are all headed to the HOF.

Because he wasn’t “charged” with any of those. He was accused, big difference

I would say that 90% of Patriots fans don’t even think that. That’s why it’s even more amazing what Brady and the Pats accomplished over the years. For so many of the campaigns, Brady turned Joe Shmoes off the street into viable, winning, successful players. Literally guys you never heard of. When you have a guy so accurate with his throws that you can do that, you can afford depth and versatility at other positions.

  21. Only flukes will change what is about to happen.

Unfortunately, flukes happen. Don’t underestimate Scotty Miller but especially Ronald Jones. Fournette may start but if the Packers can’t stop either of them then it’s a close game they can lose. If they do, then they win imo.

  22. Ben Roethlisberger won 2 Super Bowls before Brown got to Pittsburgh, but never won another while he was there. It’s a QB league. Not a WR league.

    Agree

I don’t think any Patriots fan ever claimed those guys were Hall of Famers. But most fans pump up there guys.
