Tom Brady: Lack of media makes this Super Bowl different from my other nine

Getty Images

As he heads to his 10th Super Bowl, Tom Brady is noticing a very big difference from the previous nine: There’s no media around.

In an ordinary year, Brady would have spent Monday mobbed by hundreds of members of the media on Super Bowl Opening Night. Instead, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Brady was sitting alone looking at a screen and interacting with a much smaller number of journalists over Zoom.

“This is a crazy media day. I’m sitting here in an empty room. This is very different than the other nine experiences,” Brady said, via James Palmer of NFL Network.

Brady is the only player in NFL history who can refer to his “other nine” Super Bowls (or for that matter his other eight, other seven or other six Super Bowls). Going to the Super Bowl is old hat for Brady, even if this one is a bit different than all the others.

  1. humble brag right there hhahaha im here for it tho respect to the GOAT

  2. The other 9…. Just think about that for a second… This is the man’s 10th Superbowl that just doesn’t seem like it’s even possible. The conversation is over Tom Brady is the greatest football player in the history of the sport… Period…End Of Story

  3. “This is very different than the other nine experiences,” Brady said, via James Palmer of NFL Network.

This man reeks of arrogance, would love to see Mahomes and the Chiefs wipe that arrogance off his face all night on Sunday.

  4. It’s going to feel in the end like those other two where you played the giants and went home empty handed

  5. Like him or not he’s the GOAT!!!!!!! At this point I want to see him win another and another and another and another……….He should flip teams every year and see how many teams he can help get to the big game. THE GOAT

  6. The bone-headed GB defense before halftime saved his ass and the phantom PI sealed his mediocre performance………and I like Brady! If ever there was time for a guy to get a big head over his own headlines, it’s now.

  7. The media is paying very little attention to Mahomes and the Chiefs…80% of the coverage on TV is on the Bucs.

So it was the “defense “ not him recognizing the coverage and making a perfect pass?

    The phantom PI

You mean the one when the DB pulled the WR shirt about a foot THEN switch hands and pulled it AGAIN? That’s “phantom PI” ?

  9. I definitely want to see my Chiefs get back to back championships, but how can anyone deny the GOAT? Just be glad we’re able to witness a career like this.

    ==================
Phantom PI? You mean the one where the defender is dragging on the receivers shirt and attached to him like some pseudo-umbilical cord? Not sure what was so phantom about that.

  12. Yep. There are a few things different about this year. But it does affect Tom more than most people. The big story this year is about Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Everyone was waiting to see what would happen when they parted ways. Was all that success more about Tom or Bill? Well, that question has been answered. Unfortunately, it’s not getting the press it deserves. Or, fortunately, if you’re Bill.

If he was modest and humble all he had to say was “this is different from the other experiences.”. I can’t wait to see him lose his 4th on Sunday, there should be a couple of more loses too if the Seahawks and Falcons weren’t so dumb.

Phantom PI? I don’t think an Atomic Wedgie is an exceptable coverage technique.

    Atomic Wedgie

The atomic wedgie entails hoisting the waistband of the receiver’s underwear up and over their heads

    Yes the “IF” game again.

The Brady crybabies excuses are always based on hypotheticals

Let’s ignore everything else that happened in those games
    and go with “IF”

Yes, you can say Brady is winning so far. But, I think Belichick has a long term plan. This year was obviously a year no one could have predicted. Next year, opt outs on defense will be back, I am sure they will have a better quarterback than sCam, and lots of cap space to fill in with veteran free agents other teams have to cut. It was always going to be an adjustment when you lost the greatest player at the most important position. I am sur Bill knew this was going to be a bridge year, but he would never utter that.
Next year, when the Bucs lose many players to FA, I am sure the Pats will have a better record than the Bucs, and be right back in the thick of thing in the AFC.

  17. Not as many haters as before. In time, everybody will tell people they were fortunate to have watched him play.

If he loses this Super Bowl how many will that be ???
    _____________________

    His current record is 6-3.
If he loses, he will be 6-4
If he wins, he will be 7-3.
The first number is the wins, the second is the losses.

    Hope that helps.

Nobody is interested in watching you in another Super Bowl

    —-
    Translation:

“I’m” not interested in watching you in another Super Bowl because Aaron Rodgers is my guy, and he’s a small footnote in the annals of Super Bowl history compared to what you’ve been able to do, and I don’t much care to admit that.

  20. ‘Nobody is interested in watching you in another Super Bowl.”

    Huh

That’s funny because I certainly am. As well as at least 200 people I know, as well as the entire Bucs fanbase, almost the entire Pats fanbase and I think millions of others as well.

Now go back to sulking that the Packers lost another conference championship game and let everyone who wants to enjoy the SB enjoy it.

  21. I can’t stand Brady just like most of you but he’s obviously the GOAT. Lot of haters on here. Oh and that humble flex about 9 other appearances is one of the greatest lines ever. Fact

  22. KC 38 Tampa 17, Mahomes wins his 2nd but what should have been his third stolen by a dumb offsides that had no impact on the game.

  23. Brady is the GOAT, imo – but not because of the rings.

It’s a team game. The Bucs/Packers game was a microcosm of the kind of team and luck that both Brady and Rodgers have had over the years. Rodgers didn’t give up that hail mary at the end of the 1st half.

Brady could have easily have lost against both the Redskins and Saints if not for big plays made by his D.

Different as in defense carrying you to the super bowl? No Tom, it’s the same.

So if he didn’t have 8 tds so far this post season they still would have won those games?

Does it work both ways? When they were up 21-10 at the half vs HB was that the offense “carrying “ the defense?

Oh and your user name also screams jealousy

Should have could have blah blah blah more excuse making
You know how else they could have won that game ?
Stop Brady from completing 3 first down passes on third and long
Or stopping Brady and the offense from going right back down the field to take the lead before KC kicked the FG to tie the game.

  25. “I’m” not interested in watching you in another Super Bowl because Aaron Rodgers is my guy, and he’s a small footnote in the annals of Super Bowl history compared to what you’ve been able to do, and I don’t much care to admit that.
    =====

Aaron Rodgers doesn’t deserve to be in this Super Bowl, no other Packer does either.

Brady is bad for the League. Its 2021. Not 2001. Not 2011. This is as bad as the NFC stomping the AFC all those years.

  26. Give it up guys, Brady is untouchable. He was pick 6 Brady last year. 3 picks in the last game, 56% completion percentage in the playoffs and gifted a game by Drew Brees, yet Brady did it all by himself, again.

Yeah and also threw 3 Tds in that game , funny how you leave that part out.

And Brady and the offense was able to take advantage of the Brees “”gifts” and Rogers wasn’t
    See the difference

Oh and have a mentioned how you were WRONG about EVERYTHING
you said when it comes to Brady going to Tampa?

  28. Poor Patriots fans. Their team is in ruins without a capable starting QB, and they all find themselves clinging to Brady who’s on another team in a completely different conference.

Also laughable to hear these primadonnas talk about others using the “what if” scenario. As if we haven’t heard these people claim that the Patriots would have won those two Giant Super Bowls if Eli didn’t make clutch plays.

    LOL

  29. Glad I don’t have to hear the “Managing Ticket Requests” rhetoric every player throws out day 1 of Super Bowl week.

  30. Wow,ya i guess u could say that if Seattle and Atlanta did not implde the Pats would have 2 less wins but also if not for 2 lucky catches by the Giants they would have had 2 more wins and even the game against the Eagles,Brady threw for over 500 yards, just imagine Brady could have 9 wins in 10 S.B.games

So you’re saying a dumb offside penalty that ended up costing Mahommes a try at three straight had no impact. Got it.

We are not “clinging” to Brady. There are still a lot of us who are Brady fans who want to see him win another Super Bowl. He gave us 20 years of superior play. You don’t just forget that it ever happened, and it doesn’t make us Bucs fans either. I know that I’m not.

  35. I hated him for years, now I am rooting for him. He’s beaten father time and heading to his 10th super bowl while there are many, many HOF players who never got there once. I’m looking forward to the “what made Tom Brady so great” discussions as his career winds down and HOF winds up. The thought of that makes me nauseous but less than it used to.

  36. The hate isn’t for Tom Brady. He’s a great QB with an incredible worth ethic and desire to win.
My hate comes in he where he gets so credit much for everything. Most QBs have to play great in the playoffs to win. Brady can have sub-par games all the time and come out on top. He gets incredible support from the entire team and coaches. Why do you think he got the heck out of NE the moment the talent around him dipped?

    As exhausting as defending him??

There is not much to defend…..he he proven himself the best QB to ever play the game. And only jealous fanboys say otherwise. But hey, keep telling yourself GB has the most championships as if those games against the Akron Sparkplugs in the 1930s really count!

His team in NE made the playoffs last season and we see what happened once he left. It seems to me you have just proven Brady “IS” the reason teams win. Remind me again, what was Tampa Bay’s record last season?

  39. You’re right. That fly-by-night Tom Brady plotted for 20 years to escape under the cover of darkness. He must not have been committed to the complete overhaul many times of the roster and accepting well below market value to do so all those years. I also forgot how the coaches made all those on field split second decisions and threw all the passes for him. Without the “support” from any coaches in the league, how could these football players succeed, much less lazy Tom Brady?

They could have gone to the Super Bowl nine times with Matt Cassell. Or Cam Newton. It’s plug and play over there.

  40. But hey, keep telling yourself GB has the most championships as if those games against the Akron Sparkplugs in the 1930s really count!

    Interesting.

When I look up ‘NFL Championships’, the Packers count is 12.

Which ones should I toss out?

.. better yet, why don’t you can take that up with NFL.
