The Chiefs’ season came to an end on Sunday with a 31-9 loss to the Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV and that means it is now time for them to move on to the business of the offseason.

One of the first items on their list is sorting out the contract situation of offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. Bieniemy’s contract is up and word last week was that he’s expected to re-sign with the team.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said on Monday that he and Bieniemy have had some conversations about next steps and that he expects things to be wrapped up in the near future.

“We’ll get all that settled in the next week and see where it goes,” Reid said, via Herbie Teope of the Kansas City Star.

Bieniemy interviewed for most of the head coaching openings around the league last month, but didn’t get hired and is set for a fourth year in his current job.

  1. If EB truly wants to be a HC. He should go to another team where he calls the plays. Otherwise he will be second guessed in KC again.

  2. Most,if not all, of the offensive coordinator positions are filled at this point. I don’t think EB has an opportunity to go to another team to call plays.

It was probably the same last year being that he was in the Superbowl and when his season ended teams already have their staff set.

  3. how long is andy going to coach in kc? i dont think bienemy will outlast him. i can see reid there at least 5 more years

  4. If Bienemy was 1 of the 2 minorities hired for a head coach position would anyone be making a big deal about the number of minority hires?

  5. Chiefs offense couldn’t get in the end zone Sunday. Seems to me that would cool other teams on Eric Bieniemy. He didn’t look like a genius. I want to point out too, that during the game he was actually holding the play sheet and calling the plays. So much has been made about his lack of play-calling. He had that duty last night and got out-coached by Bowled.

  6. That loss didn’t do anything to increase Eric Bieniemy’s value. He didn’t have his team ready. The Chiefs were out coached. It’s like Ground Hog day (the movie), everyday their are articles on Bieniemy…..every ——g day. If Bieniemy can’t score with that loaded Chiefs offense, he’s not going to do well coaching the Jets, Eagles, etc. He should be fired (or contract should not be renewed) for the Chiefs superbowl offensive performance.
