Betting odds show Vic Fangio, Matt Nagy and Mike Zimmer on the hot seat

Broncos coach Vic Fangio, Bears coach Matt Nagy and Vikings coach Mike Zimmer are the coaches with the hottest seats, if betting odds are to be believed.

Fangio is at 5-to-1 odds to be the first coach to resign or get fired in 2021, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. That makes Fangio, who is 12-20 in two years in Denver, the favorite.

Nagy is next at 6-to-1. Nagy started his career going 12-4 with the Bears in 2018, but he has slumped to 8-8 two years in a row since then. A third year at .500 or worse would likely cost Nagy his job.

Zimmer is at 8-to-1. In seven seasons with the Vikings, Zimmer is 64-47-1 overall, but just 2-3 in the playoffs, and the Vikings had a disappointing season in 2020.

Up next is Bengals coach Zac Taylor, at 11-to-1. The Bengals are 6-25-1 in two years with Taylor, and if he can’t show real progress with quarterback Joe Burrow in Year 3, he won’t get a Year 4.

Rounding out the Top 5 is Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury at 12-to-1. Although Kingsbury has made progress in his two years in Arizona, Year 3 is the year when he needs to take the next step into the playoffs, and if he doesn’t he could be out.

  1. Zimmers’ reliance on Peterson II and supporting the fingers-crossed extension of Cousins will do him in before Thanksgiving. He’ll be one of the last to go during their latest and futile bottom-to-top rebuild.

  2. I’ve seen enough of Nagy to know his ceiling is low. But his GM hasn’t done him any favors either. Top-half talent on defense but bottom-third at best on offense (including 3 whiffs in a row at QB), with multiple 1st and 2nd round busts on that side of the ball, will put any HC in a tough spot.

  3. Nagy is NOT the Bears problem. The Bears problems begin and end with Ted Phillips and Ryan Pace. Those two clowns couldn’t run a Pop Warner Fofftball team leet alone an NFL franchise. McCaskey needs to forget Phillips is family and fire him immediately. The new President can easily find a GM who knows how to build a winning team.

  4. Funny I remember growing up talking about betting was taboo and if you did, you shouldn’t talk about it in front of certain people. Now betting odds are being used to determine which coaches are most likely to be fired. The world is a difference place.

  5. Zim won’t get fired because Vikings will make the playoffs this year, probably going as far as Superbowl. Bet on it.

  6. I’d add Belichick to this list. Not a good look when you tell the owner that Brady is washed and you bring in a replacement who is far worse, and then watch your old guy move on to a new team and win just like you used to.

  7. Zimmer still has the 3rd worst winning percentage in his own division and that’s only because Dan Campbell hasn’t coached a game yet.
Just 2 lousy playoff wins, one being an extremely lucky missed tackle miracle, in 7 long years.
A revolving door coaching staff and completely oblivious front office where circus music plays on a continuous loop.

Yet, these simple minded, downright silly fans will still claim to trust in Mike. 😂
God bless their precious hearts, I sincerely hope they continue to get their wish.

Honest question. Are you bi-polar? You flop back and forth on complimentary and derogatory posts quite often( that is, when you aren’t repeating yourself.)(( I’m sure you save said posts to cut and paste which is so sad, they aren’t worth repeating)) What is even sadder is that you were posting the same things in 2009.Anyway- top to bottom rebuild huh?

    Top 12 QB
    Top 2 RB
    Top 5 WR duo

2 starting DL who missed the season back
    Barr Back
    Still have Hitman
    Corners that show promise.

Yeah, you aren’t real smart. Vikings will be better, and no wishing, hoping, praying will change that.

Meanwhile back in GB: The Packers just choked away another NFCCG game. Rodgers has only beat Caleb Hanie in one of those CALEB HANIE!! You just downgraded at DC( how is that possible?) I hesitate to even respond to you because your screen name is atrocious. I heard more blaming the officials from you and your Packer brethren about the obvious PI than any Vikings fans combined over the years. You Packers fans are such blatant hypocrites. 2 blown chances in a row, odds are that was the last run for AR and GB.

By the way, if you want to talk about circus music: Going for a fg down a touchdown, getting it and still being down a TD and giving the ball to the GOAT with 2 minutes ……Trading up to draft a QB and adding a 4th besides when you just signed AR to an extension, thereby negating said rookie qbs small contract, well that is clown shoes, and so are you for defending it.

  10. Remember how bad the defense was when Zimmer came in? He was able to turn that around and I still have faith that he can do so again. Last season was rough but look at the amount of player turnaround, injuries and obvious pre season disruption due to the pandemic.

  11. Yeah, that Rodgers has only beaten Caleb Hanie in an NFCCG . . . and of course Big Ben in a super bowl.

Let’s talk about all the stellar QBs our Vikings have beaten in NFCCGs during Rodgers’ tenure . . . oh wait.

I am going to respond to you only once. Anyone with a mind like yours that thinks its funny to pretend to be fan of another ream is either :
    A. A moron
    B. A sad lonely person
    C. Both

Minnesota has not had the QB play that GB has been blessed with since 1992. 2 HOF QBS and 2 titles in that span. (Yep Minnesota has none in their existence). Your franchise has wasted 2 great QB’s. You fools also think Love is going to be the 3rd HOF in a row. Here’s a hint, it hasn’t ever happened in NFL history. It isn’t happening now.

AR is a great player. but he wilts in big moments. The difference between AR and Brady is this: AR cares more about his stats and individual awards, Brady cares about titles. Brady leads and lifts up others around him , AR makes faces and rolls his eyes when someone drops a ball.

Rodgers had his Elway moment where he could have ran for a TD, but throwing it was more important to him.

But, seriously dude, get rid of the pretend Viking fan name, it makes you look pathetic

Honest question, how does that make the Vikings any better?

How’s Anthony Barr feeling anyhow? That $26 million spent on him the past two seasons has paid plenty of dividends. Viking fan should be chomping at the bit to get to the next regime.

Y’all’s back and forth is great, keep at it, but I needed to jump in on this one. You must not pay attention to TB like you do AR because he has fits when people screw up. Your way off on that one. And the Packers success (or lack thereof) in NFCCG’s isn’t on Rodgers. He’s never had the coaching or defense around him like TB. You act like he gave the TB game away when he completely outplayed Brady, just like he did Wilson in 14, only to be let down by the defense, just like 14. Let’s not rewrite history for a flamewar. The Packers organization is the reason we only have 2 rings with BF and AR. Now get back to it!🤣

  17. I’d add Belichick to this list. Not a good look when you tell the owner that Brady is washed
    _____

You know thats not what happened right?

  18. For a guy who has coached at the highest level for as many years as Fangio, it’s beyond crazy how poor his clock management and situational awareness are. Multiple examples of it but Week 17 was probably the best. Raiders trail by 1 late and are going for the 2-point conversion to try and take the lead. They’re out of timeouts, running guys off and onto the field in total confusion. They were absolutely going to either have to wildly rush the snap or take a delay of game penalty making the conversion much harder. But instead Fangio burns a timeout so he can better set his defense. Raiders convert to take the lead and then Fangio loses on a missed long FG that would probably have been from closer in except he’d used his final TO making the Raiders conversion easier for them.

  19. Zim’s not going anywhere. The defense is getting a couple guys back, and the corners will have more experience. So, the Vikings will be back to 10-6, a wildcard spot in playoffs, and 1-1 in the playoffs. Yep. No better. Just enough for Zim to keep his job.

  20. Feeling like a big meany for some of us triggering paulhargis. Hmmm . . . Fran Tarkenton? Brett Favre (for one of his best statistical years??)? . . . no wasted QBs there. And how about all the “serviceable” QBs who have won super bowls. Let’s see . . . Dilfer, B Johnson, Flacco, Rypien, Hostetler . . . don’t always needs HOFer’s . . .

I prefer to be realistic about our failures as opposed to building myself up by attacking our hated rivals.

Bro, I feel ya. And I want to agree. But I am losing patience very fast. Anything less than a SB appearance means I am not happy now. I’m getting old and running out of time.

  22. One would think after choking away another super appearance packer fans would be more concerned about their own team, but…

  23. Codylaws, Paulhargas, as well as that cheesy fat guy are perfect examples of triggered, dim-witted fans who’ll continue to accept the status quo garbage that it the Minnesota Vikings. 😂

Yes, they’ll continue to pat themselves on the back and point their fingers at other teams.
    Matt LaFleur and Brian Gutenkunst….really?
Over the past two seasons, a 26-6 regular season record, 11-1 in the division and consecutive NFC Conference appearances……I suspect they’d be planning parades and erecting statues in Minneapolis for achievements such as those by the Vikings.
You’d certainly never hear the end of it on PFT message boards.

Anyway, it’s obvious to anyone with eyes and even a sliver of football acumen that both Spielman and Zimmer need to go.
Why these fans don’t see it is anyone’s guess, but it’s clear that nothing’s going to change.
    And seriously, why would it?
Why would the Wilfs make such a costly decision when the fans are too stupid to even ask for one?
And trust me, that’s just the way we like it.
Keep beating that dead horse, maybe you’ll eventually get a different result. 🤣

There are a multitude of articles on this very website about Brady being a leader. The LB mad because he didn’t make the pro bowl and Brady telling him that’s not the bowl we are worried about. Another player crying after winning the NFCCG and Brady telling him what are you crying for? We aren’t done yet!~ that is leadership. No sulking on the sidelines or being paZZive aggressive in a press conference

It’s NEVER AR’s fault with you guys, if he’s the “supposed GOAT to you, why doesn’t it translate?

Who cares about his stats in those games?! He had 5 turnovers gifted to him against Seattle and they lost! He had 3 gift interceptions against TB and produced 6 points with them!

You tools are sitting here telling us that our power structure is lame, yet you tolerate the Packers wasting 20 years of HOF QB play…LOL…silly hypocrite

We are continously told that the Regular season doesn’t matter when the Vikings have a good/ great record but do nothing in the playoffs, but when GB does it, its held up like an accomplishment….hypocrites.

I am not even going to get into the GM aspect of it. You are a know nothing anything i waste time typing you’ll just shoot down. Your GM just had one of the worst drafts ever. Your coach is in over his head defending a stupid call weeks after the fact. You coach ticked off your HOF QB and set plans into motion to leave before his time.

Your franchis has had HOFQB play for 30 years running and refuses to spend to put better players around them, yet you dopes settle for that status quo.

Your GM just hired the worst DC in the nFL….

  30. Zim should be on the hot seat, as should most any coach that has not made the playoffs in the prior year. It’s tough to win consistently without an elite QB, something the Packers have shown when Rodgers is hurt vs healthy. He’s a good enough head coach when he has personnel and good offensive coordinator at the same time (ie, Schurmer and Stefanski), but that can likely be said of most coaches. Last year he had the coordinator, but not the defensive personnel. Spielman is fine, and folks that disagree, like the myopic blame official guy above, are just plain wrong. As for the comparisons to Gutekunst and LaFleur, just look what Tampa and NE before them did with a HOF QB, and compare Gutekunst’s roster building drafts the last two years — Brady wasn’t wasted — Rodgers was.

  31. Oh oh . . . paul is triggered again. He can start in the 60s, 90s, 2010s, you name it . . . he’s hemmed in and has nowhere to go but to say that the Packers are bad or did this/that . . . some of us can deal with our team’s whole futile franchise history and move forward . . . others – “but the Packers . . .” Very revealing.

  32. Paulhargis…..Wow! You did it. (slow clap)
    Now I’m convinced.

    Zimmer is the Man!
And Spielman, he obviously has what it takes to get the personnel to take this team over the top.
0-60 will soon be no more. 🤣

How could I have been so wrong.
You guys are right, I guess I was just fooled by the 7 years of next to nothing futility.
    Enjoy your team’s next 7-9…8-8…..whatever.

  33. Average to below average QB is the common denominator for all 3 coaches on the seat.

  34. I don’t why I expected more out of the 3 stooges. That’s on me I guess. Typical Packers fans sherry pick part of the post and totally ignore valid points. Nothing has changed here in 12 years. Same dunce fans with different screen names. The blather is still the same.

Instead of having a healthy debate, and rebutting points made, let’s just type triggered over and over like a teenaged girl.

Hemmed in huh? How/ By your own set of rules, the Packers have done nothing of merit the last 7 years either. Hypocrites as far as the eye can see.

  35. Come on paul, got any facts about serious successes in our Vikings’ history? or are you all about trying to build up your fan ego by trying to malign another team?

  36. Healthy debate. Other than 4 opponents Green Bay and Minnesota played the same schedules over the past 2 seasons. One team went 26-6, the other 17-15. Which team performed better? Which team was better? Thanks.

  37. Cannot speak to the other situations but in Denver they are fine with mediocrity and continual losing. They had Fangio in on the interview for their GM. Does that sound like a franchise that has a coach on the hot seat? They love the geritol twins (Fangio and Schurmur) here in Denver.

  38. Yes, the Packers performed better. Neither of them have anything to show for their efforts do they?

My question to you is this: If the Vikings are such a nothing franchise, why is it that your fanbase is constantly comparing yourself to them?? Why not compare yourself to the other “elite” teams? Is it because they don’t stack up quite as well? Nevermind, its a rhetorical question.

Its kind of like when the Vikings have a better record and go futhere in the playoffs, its never about just that season, that is when you have to dust off the trophies from years ago.

It is hard to have a good debate with Packers fans because they constantly move the goalposts of the argument.

  39. It’s harder to have a good debate with someone who asks questions and answer those same questions all in the same post.

  40. In deference to paul being traumatized by the word “triggered”, I’ll refrain from using it going forward. Funny that should be so traumatizing in lieu of the name calling you’ve spewed. Interesting . . .

Look at our fellow Viking fans trying to bash the Packers over and over again . . . . what does that say about our ability to extoll the virtues of our team. Without the Pack, we wouldn’t have much going on. Unfortunately, that GB franchise is rife with history (recent and older) that we’d love to emulate.

You were talking about cherry picking from the past and moving the goalposts?? The window is now defined by just this past season?? Funny . . . you’ve referenced quite of range of Packer history (quarterbacking since 1992, NFCCG from several years ago). Don’t think I’d be referencing moving the goalposts in a discussion.

  41. Nagy and Fangio I can see but Zimmer seems to be safe because he is Spielman’s guy like Cousins is their QB.

    2. Nobody believes you are a Vikings fan. Again, give it up. Its cliche and not funny in the least.

3.Try to have some reading comprehension. What I said is when the Vikings are better, you Packers fans dust off the trophies, when the Packers have a better season, then its all about look, we went to the NFCCG!

    4. No goalpost moving on my part. I am stating facts that not ONE of you ever respond to or try to deflect. It is because you can’t.

  45. There goes paul with the name calling again . . . I guess that’s what he resorts to in lieu of a persuasive narrative. He was definitely set off by the T word. Denial is a beautiful thing for some folks.

All the shifting of discussion points you’ve made in this thread . . . and other people have comprehension and staying on point issues?? OK, got it. Your retorts have moved around numerous times . . . again, got it, no goalpost moving there.

You are the guy who seems to have trouble defending his points with fact. To paraphrase . . . but the Packer fans say . . . my gosh, how fragile are you?

I’ve seen plenty of your points directly addressed by those responding. Keep saying otherwise, though, that way you won’t think you’re getting pinned down.

I wish I could talk so much smack about our beloved Vikings, but the “facts” just aren’t there. Happy to address them when you can get beyond the “this Packer fan says this, or that Packer fan says that” narrative.

    Have a good night.
