Mike Evans: Tom Brady went above and beyond with texts to prepare for Super Bowl

USA TODAY Sports

After the Buccaneers won Super Bowl LV, Leonard Fournette revealed Tom Brady would text teammates “We will win” around 11 p.m. ET every night.

But apparently that wasn’t all he was sending.

In an appearance on “The Michael Irvin Podcast,” Evans said Brady stepped up everything he usually did during the season to help motivate his teammates.

“He was texting us a lot of clips, lots and lots of film on what to expect on certain down and distances,” Evans said, via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. “And he does that all the time, but just in the playoffs and especially this game, he went above and beyond.

“Like 12 at night, six in the morning. People aren’t even up, and he’s telling us this won’t work against this guy. You’ve got to run it like this. This is the detail that went into this and the extra meetings and all the hard work. It all paid off and Tom is a great leader.”

Clearly, all the extra messages worked. It all just adds to the legend of Brady, who may or may not remember the praise he’s getting from his teammates as much as he remembers the criticism he’s received from the media.

  1. I seriously doubt text messages won the SB for the Bucs. Good for you Tom, but football is team sport and you get the most out of team. Rodgers has to play great to win playoff games. You can get by with mediocre play.

    More excuses.

I’m two conference championship games Rogers defense had a total of EIGHT turnovers (4 interceptions vs Wilson and a fumble recovery) 3 interceptions vs Brady in a half. EIGHT turnovers in 2 games and lost both. Because as usual he peed down his leg when the moment was to big.
Sorry but if you get eight turnovers in two games that’s on the offense if you don’t win at least one.

  3. I have said for years that Tom Brady has a personality disorder. He is obsessed with Football. It is what makes him great. BB has a similar personality disorder, which is why the two of them achieved such historic greatness together. But normal people would *eventually* not want to put in the work after 20 years and millions upon millions of dollars. That is why no one will match his success anytime soon. Lots of players love the game, the team, the process, the training, the routine, even the grind. But only a rare few are truly obsessed with the game.

After all is said and done Brady is the GOAT, while I Rodgers, am still a ‘One Hit Wonder.’

    nite2al,

The NFCCG between 49ers and Packers

Imagine Rodgers played like Brady in AFCCG against Chiefs : stayed on field for long time, scored 24+ points in first 58 minutes.

Packers would have had decent chance winning the game or tying the game in last 2 minutes.

You put Rodgers in that game, Pats would have had no chance against Chiefs.

  6. Then why is Rodgers MVP?

    ———————-

Because MVP is based on stats.

and stats is based on QB’s ability of throwing to WR behind defenders.
