Two years ago, the Raiders signed wide receiver Tyrell Williams to a four-year, $44 million contract. Williams caught just 42 passes in a Raiders uniform, and now he’s done.

The Raiders announced today that they have released Williams.

Williams, who made $22 million in his two seasons, was OK but not great in 2019. In 2020, he missed the entire season with a torn labrum in his shoulder.

The 29-year-old Williams entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Western Oregon, and he worked his way into becoming a 1,000-yard receiver in his second season. But he was never that productive again, and now he’s a free agent just looking for a new NFL home.

  1. His body failed him. It’s too bad because him and his dad grew up Raider fans, and it was a dream come true when he signed. I wish him luck on his new team.

  2. Knew this was coming the moment they signed him. Next is Joyner, and then Trent Brown. Our 2019 FA class was terrible. Stop overpaying players that make no impact.

  3. Wish him nothing but the best, he’s talented but the injury’s just continued to get in the way.

  4. between him and chucky thats about 42 million wasted dollars the lat 2 years ..jeezzz what a sad franchise…

  5. I love Tyrell and the 5 or 6 games he played in, he made a difference and he played like a #1, but if you cant get on the field than you aint worth the money. Wish him nothing but the best though.

  6. If Agolor wants huge money I’d try and re-sign Williams for an Agolorish 1 year/1 million, maybe a bit more money type of deal before throwing $5 at Juju.
