Cam Jordan envisions a Super Bowl win if Russell Wilson joins the team

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is willing to accept a trade to the Saints. Multiple Saints players are more than willing to accept Russell Wilson.

Saints receiver Michael Thomas quickly made his views known on Twitter when the news broke last week. Appearing Tuesday on ESPN, Saints defensive end Cam Jordan made clear his belief that, if Wilson comes to New Orleans, the Saints will win a Super Bowl.

Although the tweet seems unconditional, Jordan’s on-air explanation had some caveats. At one point, Jordan conditioned his optimism on Wilson playing like he “at the beginning of last season” for the full year. Jordan also said that winning a Super Bowl is his “vision year in and year out.”

In the video posted by Jordan, he also addresses the status of Drew Brees. It’s unclear, however, whether Jordan says that Brees has retired or that Wilson would be in play if Brees actually retires. (Most believe Brees is retiring; recently, a vibe has emerged that maybe he won’t.)

Of course, there’s a chance that Jordan won’t be around to experience Wilson’s impact on the Saints. If Jordan is part of the trade package that lands Wilson, Jordan will be playing in Seattle. Recently, he acknowledged that possibility — even if he wouldn’t be happy about it.

  1. “Cam Jordan envisions yet another playoff choke if Russell Wilson joins the team”

    *fixed the title for you.

  2. Cam might want to consider who they’ll have to let go to fit Wilson’s cap hit before booking his SB tickets.

  3. I still can’t believe the Saints were favored against the Bucs in the playoffs. It was Playoff Tom vs Playoff Brees. I said it at the time but it’s even more obvious in hindsight.

  4. Darn, first the mayor of New Orleans and now Cam Jordan. Drew Brees must be feeling unloved.

  5. The Bucs’ story was a good one-year one, but I would hate to see the “buy a Super Bowl” thing become the norm.

Teams are already starting to lose their identities as the focus shifts to mega-contracts and who’s able to finagle the most money.

At some point, I think the fan base has to step back and question what they’re funding. The product is taking a back seat to the millionaires & billionaires focusing on extracting everything they can. If that’s not what people want, they should stop paying for it.

  6. Drew Brees must be thinking: “…and after all I’ve done for these people, they’re ready to toss me aside and I haven’t even retired yet?”

  7. They’re gonna give ol’ noodle arm a chip on his shoulder and he’ll come back for one more round of disappointment in the playoffs.

  8. What a joke and kind of rotten thing to do. Its me me me me again. Lets diss the two QB’s you have now as in they suck and cant get us there but Wilson can. I’m sure they love you today

  9. Once again, a player with a wish list and no idea how they will achieve his wish team given their cap and draft capital situations.

  10. I cannot believe the total disrespect not only the mayor but fellow teammates are showing Drew Brees. At least let the man officially retire before you actively shop for his replacement. He deserves at least that much.

  11. Translation: “We won’t win one with Drew Brees. He’s too old. He’s one and done with SB’s.” Not a very supportive thing to say about your as yet not retired QB.

  12. Just turn the reigns over to Jameis. He excelled at throwing to Saints players while he was here.

  13. When Pittsburgh is “envisioning” a SB with Ben, and the Raiders are with Derek Carr it becomes ridiculous.

  14. Cam will not be part of a trade package. He may get cut. Unless Arizona wants him at 15mill per. Same production same pay? He has the same career as watt. Will he get in the hall of good? down voters proceed

  15. Brees doesn’t retire, sent to Vikings, Cousins sent to Seattle, Wilson sent to Saints, Saints send Seattle 1st & 3rd

You really need not to worry. The hard salary cap works itself out. Brady is an outlier and he’s probably the only one who doesn’t take the max contract. The teams with elite QBs give so much money to one player that they usually crippled themselves in other areas to be able build a “super team.” And if a team is able to pull it off – the Rams almost did it in 2018 – they are also selling their future so things will come back to bite them. Really, there’s no free lunch. If teams want to blow the wad and win a championship, so be it. The universe will work itself out. I am not a team fan so I enjoy watching team building and observe from a distance and it seems to bear that out.

Cam is plenty used to “playoff choking”…..he plays with Drew Brees

  19. You’d hope that every player would just keep their big trap shut. You play with the players that are on the team. There are existing quarterbacks on the Saints. Be professional and stop talking about others and what ifs. These players don’t control this. If I ran these teams every contract would stipulate that players do not talk about other players they would be fined one game salary. Be professional or pay for it. No comment.

  20. I’d like to see these trade scenarios. Kamara, Davenport, a pair of 1s, and a 2?

  21. The Saints defeated the Colts by a score of 31–17, earning their first Super Bowl win. The Saints have been the division’s champion for four straight seasons. Since 2009, Drew Brees and New Orleans won 6 NFC South titles but fielded only one Super Bowl team. Brees is done as a Super Bowl-winning QB… Since 2010 the Saints have fallen short of getting back to an SB and Drew Brees’s arm isn’t getting any stronger, Brees has been underwhelming in the Saints’ past three playoffs losses. Payton can finally open up the offense with Jameis Winston without trading away half the team and draft capital.

  22. Wilson’s not winning another Super Bowl with Seattle or anybody else………

Until they can figure out how to beat the Bucs they won’t sniff another SB.

    ———————————————————————————–

They went 2-1 against the Bucs last season, absolutely thrashing them in the two games that unfortunately didn’t matter as much.

  24. Ironically every player welcoming Russell Wilson would likely be needed to trade for Wilson in the first place. It’s not like the Saints have any significant draft picks to offer.

  25. How about your diva QB come right out and retire or announce he’s coming back to pad his stats? A guy who allows a ridiculous tough guy video about his workouts to be released instead of making a decision doesn’t deserve the “respect” of his team remaining stagnant while he’s preening online.

  26. Right. So Gruden talks about Richard Sherman and you scream and rant “TAMPERING!!”

Yet Jordan does the same thing about Russell Wilson and not a word about it. I sense a double standard here…

  27. Talk is cheap. I don’t understand why these guys yap like this. Speak softly and carry a big stick. That’s what works.

  28. Big smack at Drew Brees.
Beat Bucs twice during the regular season.
    Beat Seahawks in 2019.

  29. The Saints still own the NFC South and will for sometime.

Jameis Winston is is a better QB than Russell Wilson, And the Saints should sign him As Soon As Possible!

Brady threw 2 ints and was less worse than noodle armed Brees. Brady was worse the next week vs GB throwing 3 ints, it’s just TBs D bailed Brady out like NEs D did in 2018, allowing only 3 points in the sb.

These guys are getting old, more entitled and more annoying.

  31. Brees and Winston are gonna have to pay Taysom Hill to go whoop Jordan’s arse. What a slap in the face.

Besides, I’d take broken Brees over the 2nd half of 2020 version of Wilson any day. All Russ cares about anymore is being an insufferable celebrity.

The Bucs didn’t buy a SB. They got Brady for less than the average mediocre QB is paid. AB & Fournette for a song. Gronk didn’t get paid much. And most of the other Bucs players were drafted by them; some still on their rookie or first contracts.

So, 1-0 in the real season where the only thing is win or go home. Brady is the one good at those.

  34. Keep dreaming dipstick…you’ll never win anything…serves you right for badmouthing brady…retire with your fake goat

  35. I didn’t know contracted players could talk about other contracted players coming to their team.

  36. I really can’t imagine Russell leaving Seattle. The City of Seattle is about as good as it gets. Bill Gates can live anywhere he wants, and he lives in Seattle. To go from Seattle to the Deep South is like traveling back in time 100 years. Maybe 150 years.

  37. I could see that also if it was to actually happen. But knowing the coach of NO, nothing would be more challenging than to win against the team that just won the Super Bowl with the QB they just cut. His ego showed last draft when he jumped on Tommy Stevens just because he knew the Panthers wanted to invite him to Carolina.
