Everyone figured the Eagles would trade Zach Ertz at some point this offseason. Everyone includes Zach Ertz, who acknowledged at the end of the season he didn’t know whether he would remain in Philadelphia.

The some point appears to be growing closer.

Michael Silver of NFL Media reports multiple teams have called the Eagles about Ertz and a deal could happen in the coming days.

The Eagles will look much different in 2021, with coach Doug Pederson, quarterback Carson Wentz and receiver DeSean Jackson among those who have departed. Ertz appears the next one out the door.

Ertz, 30, made only 36 receptions for 335 yards and one touchdown in 11 games, the worst statistical season in his eight-year career.

Ertz is scheduled to make a base salary of $8.25 million in 2021 while carrying a cap hit of $12.5 million and a dead cap value of $7.8 million.

The Eagles are salary-cap strapped and have Dallas Goedert at the position, so Ertz won’t play another season in Philadelphia. The only question is what the Eagles can get for him.

  1. Rumor out of green bay is zack is coming home to roost. Who else do they have at TE?

  2. If there was one guy I was hoping the Eagles would figure out a way to keep, it was Ertz. I understand the reasoning for moving on, but this will be the toughest guy to see in another uniform since Dawkins. Ertz is a Philly legend.

  3. In a perfect world Zach Ertz retires as a Philadelphia Eagle. He’ll one day be inducted to the Eagles Ring of Honor and will go down as an all time great Eagle, on and off the field! Eagles Nation wishes him good fortune wherever he ends up (unless it’s against the Eagles).

  4. Guessing the eagles will get a 4 for him. He’s been wanting a new deal for over a year now and obviously is on the decline. Probably still has some gas in the tank though. Best for both sides to move on.

  5. I think he has something left but not a lot left. Good locker room guy and can still fill a role. If I ran a young team needing a veteran presence, I’d give a 4th for him.

  6. Goodbye Zack, you were great Eagle both in work ethic and performance. Also a great teammate who had an outstanding repour with everyone . You worked though injuries and your respect for the fans and the city won’t be forgotten . Good luck . If they don’t move out of the 6th pick your replacement (Pitts) could be drafted.

  7. i hope zach actually breaks more than one tackle during his tenure with the next team.

good receiver but not a tight end that rumbles like gronk kittle and kelce. and in 2020 he was way off the performance of yesteryear…

if they get a third they will have succeeded.
