Kyle Van Noy returns to Patriots

Last year, linebacker Kyle Van Noy left the Patriots for the Dolphins. This year, the Dolphins cut Van Noy.

He has announced that he’s heading back to New England.

Van Noy became a star in New England, landing a solid free-agent deal with Miami. But Miami decided after a year to go younger and cheaper.

It’s the latest move by the Patriots in an effort to improve a roster that seemed overmatched throughout much of 2020. Even so, the Patriots won seven games.

They’re laying the foundation to win more than a few more in 2021.

  1. We all thought it would happen but glad it finally did. He seemed to flourish under Bill so I hope/expect more of The same. Welcome back

  2. Miami is going to be bad this year. All this talk of Flores working wonders.. I don’t see it. He traded away an all pro lineman, a very good RB, an all pro young D-Back. They drafted some 5th DB (at best) and a QB who is not the answer. Flores is clueless

  3. lol!!!!

That D is going to be filth. Too many idiots ignored the arrogance of some teams and then the pandemic made it worse.

    Night night, AFC.

  4. Too little too late for this squad. There is one player that isn’t coming back and neither is the playoffs.

  5. Patriots are building a roster around not having a franchise QB, how the turn tables.

  6. He got $15 Million for sub par play and he’s making it personal? Lol! Cue the welcome home comments from the people that said you were washed up last year.

  7. Great news. It was just a matter of time, V
an Noy and the Patriots are perfect match.

  8. All these great players coming to New England to watch Cam through balls in the dirt at wide open receivers’ feet.

  9. This happens with ex Patriots more then anyone else. Specifically on defensive side of the ball. Belichick is easily the best at putting solid but not great players and making them household names and having team overpay them in free agency.

Nobody get the most out of his defensive players like Belichick. He knows their strengths and put them in position to succeed. Can’t even hate

  10. Hahahaha. The league is crying already. The Pats will be in the playoffs and will make a deep run at the SB. Here comes the pain haters! 😁

  11. Win in NE. Leave and fail. Then run back to Bill.

    They Patriot Way (except Brady).

And, why do they run back? BB.

  13. Great to have him back. Belichick always puts his players in the best position to succeed. When they do they leave when they are offered big money contracts by another team. They cash in big time and then return to win again and be a Patriot. Trent Brown, Dion Branch, Patrick Chung, Kyle Van Noy. Don’t be surprised if they get a 48 year old back-up to Mac Jones in a few years.

  14. If nothing else it will be fun watching how these new Pat’s players respond to the “All Business” BB way of doing things.

  15. That’s the guy the Phins cut after just a year, right?

    ____

Wait, didnt the Bills just sign Sanders who has been cut or traded three times in 2 years?

  16. He started 16 games in NE in 2018, 15 in 2019 but only 13 with Miami in 2020. Even when he did play he was hampered by injuries. Father Time is undefeated, but go ahead and think Belicheck can fix that.

  17. Great to have him back, great chess piece for Bill to have back in his defensive game planning…..Bill looks to be building a very stout D & Special teams unit…..I just really hope & pray Stidham wins the starting job over Cam….. hopefully a full off season & no Covid to mess things up is all he’ll need to do that!!!
    Go Pats!!!

Yes, the guy that had 69 tackles, 46 solo. 6 sacks, 2 FF and two recovered fumbles in 14 games with those Phins!. Welcome back Kyle, we’ll gladly have you.

  19. The recipe for an ex patriot. 1. Free agency 2. Go to Miami to get paid 3. Flores cuts you in a season 4. Go back to Patriots and win a ring

  20. Good riddance, beyond overrated!

    ____

Hes not overrated, hes a solid , not great player. Miami just over paid him. Thats on them, not him.

  21. To all those comments about the Patriot’s QB situation. Season has not started yet. BB is likely waiting for things to shake out. Not time to panic yet and need to wait and see.

Says the guy with the worst starting QB in all of football last year. Haven’t seen anyone crying, but I have seen people agree that none of those signings matter with Cam at QB

Dolphins GM is Chris Grier (been with the team for over two decades), not Brian Flores.

  24. Van Noy returns to the fold AND the Pats receive a 4th round compensatory pick for Van Noy signing with Miami last year. Sweet.

  25. It’s good to have him back, but I’d say he “came crawling back” to the Pats, rather than “returns.”

  26. Im not excited about KVN staying in the division…. but Im not quaking in my boots over the QBless Patriots either

    =================

    Kyle Van Noy

2019 Pats: 15 games, 6.5 sacks, 56 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 2 fumble recoveries

2020 Miami: 14 games, 6.0 sacks, 69 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 2 fumble recoveries

Seems pretty consistent and “properly rated” to me.

He was cut for a reason. Flores is a smart coach, he knows what he’s doing.

    =============

Yea because of the money, not performance

  29. and they are getting a 4th round compensatory pick, in this year’s draft, for him leaving in free agency to the Fins last year.

  30. BIG NAME, DECENT PLAYER, BUT THE VAN GINKEL’S YOUTH AND SPEED OUTSHINED KVN. NO LOSS!

HE COULD OF RESTRUCTURED AND MADE THE SAME MONEY STAYING IN MIAMI. HE CHOSE NOT TO.

MAKE IT PERSONAL FLO AND RUN RIGHT AT HIM ALL DAY! GO FINS WE’LL BE FINE!

MCKINNEY IS A LEADER ON DEFENSE, BEIGEL COMING BACK, AND WITH VAN GINKEL OUTPLAYING KVN THEY WILL BE BETTER. FASTER!!

PATS FANS WOULDN’T REALIZE THIS DUE TO THE FACT THE THINK BELLECHECK CAN REPLACE BRADY. NOT HAPPENING! STUCK ON OLD NAMES AND RETURNING PLAYER, BRADY AND GRONK NOT THERE TO MAKE THE BIG PLAY NEEDED!

SPEND AWAY BILL…… TOMMY STILL WON THE SUPERBOWL WITHOUT YOU AND WITH A TEAM THAT WOULDN’T EVEN OF MADE THE PLAYOFFS WITHOUT HIM!

BB an all time master. Just a clinic for the ages. I realize the pandemic gave the approach a boost, but wow.

  32. Sooner or later GM’s will stop way over paying Patriot free agents. They are all average at best, that is why BB won’t pay them as a top 10 player like a certain guard, his coaching ability gets the most out of them and few others in the NFL can do that. Van Noy sucked as a lion, been really good as a Pat, Miami, drinking the Patriot kool-aid, gave him a grossly overpaid contract to a player who is at best average that only is successful in BB’s scheme.

Van Noy’s stats were just as good with Miami as they were with Patriots.

Okay. Bill just “overpayed” for 2 TE and Edge Rusher Free Agents- should he be admonished for this or only when the shoe is on the other foot?
