It didn’t take defensive lineman Malik Jackson long to find a job. Of course, Jackson knew for a while that the Eagles were going to make him a post-June 1 cut.

The team moved on from Jackson on Wednesday.

Jackson agreed to terms with the Browns on Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports.

Jackson, 31, signed with the Eagles in 2019 and missed all but one game of that season with a foot injury. He returned to record 28 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 15 games last season.

He entered the NFL as a fifth-round choice of the Broncos in 2012 and played his first four seasons in Denver before going to Jacksonville for three years.

  1. That’s a good signing . Philly had to get rid of him to get under the cap.

  2. Well, that and he wasn’t very good last year, either. Not awful, but not worth the contract the Eagles had.

Philly got rid of him because he played like trash. They decided last year that they were going with cox and hargrave at defensive tackle. Maybe malik will turn things around in Cleveland, but this wasn’t just a cap dump. If hargrave wasn’t injured and didn’t miss multiple games last year, there’s no way malik would have gotten close to the whopping 2 and a half sacks that he got.

  4. Other then injuries, he played well last yr when on the field. The Browns are looking serious. This is a good signing. Since my Eagles won the Superbowl I’ve been kinda pulling for the Browns, Lions, and Bill’s to win one. Great fans who deserve a parade. Cheers to the loyal fanbase’s!

You think he played well last year? I remember more penalties from him than big plays.

  6. Nope. Not buying that despite all the thumbs down. Last season, malik only had 6 starts in 15 games played. He had only 2.5 sacks and 28 tackles. The only seasons in which he had lower totals were his rookie year and his injury filled first season in Philly when he played one game. Definitely not worth the 10 mil per season that philly was paying him. No way I can look at his play and say he played well while he was on the field. Honestly I’m surprised that there are people out there that think otherwise.
