Antonio Brown wants the Buccaneers to sign Antonio Brown

USA TODAY Sports

With Ndamukong Suh becoming the latest Tampa Bay free agent to rejoin the team, the Buccaneers took a social-media victory lap.

First team to return all 22 Super Bowl starters since 1977,” the team said on Instagram, with the names and numbers of the returning 11 offensive and 11 defensive starters posted.

A member of the 2020 Buccaneers who currently remains a free agent had a response to that message.

“Sign @ab,” said @ab, also known as Antonio Brown.

The Bucs want to sign Brown; last week, coach Bruce Arians said that offers have been made. Brown and the Bucs reportedly aren’t close on a new deal, however.

No other team has been linked to Brown. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson reportedly wants Brown in Seattle; the Seahawks have shown no indication that they will pursue him.

Hovering over a potential second season for Brown in Tampa Bay is the lingering civil lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault and rape. Although it isn’t scheduled to go to trial until December, Brown inevitably will give sworn deposition testimony in the case. If he behaves during the deposition the way he behaved in the depositions held in the lawsuit arising from allegations that he trashed a Miami apartment, things could go off the rails for Antonio Brown.

  1. The Bucs got the best out of Brown last season. Going forward, they don’t need him. They have plenty of good receivers and he creates too many problems. The Bucs have made all the right moves this off season and will continue that trend by letting this guy walk.

  2. I mean, I’m sure the Bucs want to sign AB, too. I know Brady does, he hasn’t exactly been shy about it. But AB has to understand that giving him a lot of guaranteed money carries risks beyond the usual stuff like injuries or underperformance. AB has displayed bona fide insane behavior. If I were him, I’d take another cheap deal, do another year of head down, no nonsense work with Brady, put up numbers, maybe another ring, then go for one last payday next year. With two years of normal behavior under his belt it should be easier to get paid the big bucks.

  3. He’s talking about himself in the 3rd person – sure sign the ego is out of control. If Brady wants him back he’s going to have to turn into his baby sitter again.

  4. Brady got what he wanted to be coach and gm if he wants ab he will get him.

  5. He’s not worth more than 2.5 mill. That’s the going rate of a 3rd receiver, with no drama. He should take what they will give him

  6. He needs to take the offer that’s on the table. It’s the only one he is going to get.

  7. Sometimes I think Antonio Brown is really just a character being played by Johnny Depp. AB=JD.

  8. how much money did he leave on the table when he decided to leave Gruden?

  9. I wouldn’t want him but if you do consider signing him you just wait until the season starts. You don’t want him in camp and you don’t anything to do with him while he has free time.

  10. He’s not a must but he would definitely help them win back to back. He did contribute last season and he’d be better now with a full offseason.

I say sign him, with a heavily incentivized deal, not mainly about stats but just that he will be available without any distractions and legal stuff, etc. That would be good for both sides, and we deserve to see a full-potential TB+AB connection.

  11. I don’t know why these receivers think that being a big personality and being all over social media is the way to go. I don’t think it’s worked out all that well for any of them except maybe Randy Moss. Meanwhile quiet guys like Golladay signed a big contract in a down year for free agents. Guys like AB have the right to be divas but I don’t think it’s smart move for their wallets. If AB had been a quieter guy he could have played out his contract with the Steelers and gotten a huge deal in free agency. Now he’s begging to be signed. Other receivers should take note.

  12. He is a showman. So he is excused for promoting himself. Nobody else is doing it for him. Poor chap!

  13. AB, despite putting up possible #1 WR stats in Tampa (480 YDS 45 REC in 8 games), no one is paying you WR1, WR2, or even good WR3 money. You are 32, and have serious issues with your personality. Without any other offers, I suggest either you accept Tampa’s, Seattle’s (if they have made an offer), or retire on top of the league.

  14. If the only offer he has is from the Bucs he can either sign or not sign. It’s not like they need him. 45 catches for 483 yards and 4 TDs doesn’t exactly scream indispensable. I’d be more concerned about him taking to social media. That’s where all his trouble began. I don’t know if any team trusts he can go another full season without having some kind of meltdown. I bet AB didn’t think of that when he was busy going scorched earth.

  15. If Tampa cannot make a good enough offer for him, then it is unlikely that Penny-pinching Mode can offer him enough to sign. Sorry Russell Wilson. You are out of luck.

  16. would “AB” be willing to work for the veteran minimum? IF so, call the bucs asap.

  17. I would love to have AB back and ultimately I think he’ll resign when he figures out that no one else is going to either going to want him or want to pay him a lot because of the obvious reasons.

That said, the Bucs will be fine and can find a #3 elsewhere if push comes to shove.

In other news, the Giants are 2-0 vs Brady in the playoffs…

In other news, Giants fans have nothing to talk about since 2012.

  19. He had 45 catches, 483 yards and 4 TDs in only 8 games, coming in rusty and not knowing the system. That is outstanding production and far above a #3 receiver. The guy is a great receiver.

But, his pending legal issues really tie the Bucs hands on giving him much money. He needs to take a lowball offer, get past the legal trouble and set himself up for a better contract next season.

  20. When all is said and done, we are going to find out this poor man was very much a victim of CTE. All the signs point right to it. Burfect ruined this mans brain. I have sympathy for what has happened to him.

  21. This guy deserves no sympathy and no money. He will be a weekly TMZ story in 2 yrs & drawing from his NFL pension just to pay his rent by the time he is 40.

Scotty Miller and Tyler Johnson, don’t need this guys.
    ——-

Those guys do not nor will they ever have AB’s skills….. AB is a huge weapon out there and Brady knows it

  23. What he did to the Raiders was disgusting, and he gets a Super Bowl ring. Strange world we live in.

  24. People act as if this team was some kinda dynasty.. this is the same overrated team that got completely embarrassed by the Saints scoring 3 garbage points and almost got beat by the Saints in the playoffs with Drew Brees being able to throw 10 yards at his furthest. Yucs are trash and they’ll show it again! This time they won’t get lucky with Jared Cook giving them the frickin ball smdh

With Brees gone the Saints will be lucky to earn 3rd place in the division. They scare nobody.

Man the Bucs do the suck, can’t believe they lost that badly in Week 9. I hear TB doesn’t even care about the SB win, he is mad that the Saints beat them in the regular season wahhh.

“Yucks” from a Saints fan. As if 80% of your teams history wasn’t garbage too.
