The Bucs are winning again. Which means they’re winning at the box office, too.

Via JoeBucsFan.com, the Buccaneers once again have a season-ticket waiting list. And fans can join it with up to $250 or $500 for the desired seat.

Per the report, the Buccaneers at one point had a season-ticket waiting list that had more than 100,000 names. In recent years, the Bucs had a very hard time even partially filling the stadium.

But with a new Lombardi Trophy and all 22 offensive and defensive starters returning for 2021, happy days are here again in Tampa. Even if they only last as long as quarterback Tom Brady‘s career does.

That said, JoeBucsFan.com acknowledges that this possibly is a marketing ruse. More likely, it’s a way to leverage current demand into future sales, for the year or two of the TB12 afterglow, before the team regresses to the pre-TB12 mean.

  1. The Glazers do the same thing at Man Utd, claiming there is always a huge waiting list for season tickets. If you register you can expect a sales call within the week offering one though. Pure bull.

  2. I was pulling for the Bucs and I’m glad to see them win it all but it’s going to be brutal when the clock strikes midnight

  3. The original waiting list was real. I got my season tix for the first time in 1996, before they got good, and by 1998 you couldn’t buy one without getting on the list. They sold out every game through the rest of the Dungy and the entirety of the Gruden eras. Tampa loves their Bucs.

But in 2009 they started an era of suckage that nobody could realistic want to spend their Sunday watching, when the weather is so damn beautiful and there are so many other things to do in the Bay Area. So of course the waiting list disappeared and attendance faltered.

But they’re good again. So of course fans will want to pack the stadium again. It may be short-lived, but I truly hope that the franchise has turned the page on the bad culture and keeps on demanding excellence even when Brady eventually retires.

  4. Band wagon fans are the best fans. Why waste time and money on a loser. Brady is the greatest winner of all time. What ever team he takes over, sign me up.

  5. My family had season tickets from 85-97. It was amazing how much ticket prices went up from Tampa Stadium to Raymond James, we couldn’t afford them anymore.

I ended up moving out of state in the early 00’s when the waiting list was over 100,000 and that was before Gruden and the Super Bowl win. It’s a shame that they couldn’t sell out with cheap tickets, but I’m glad sellout games are coming back.

Anyone that knows the Tampa market knows that there’s not too many native born Floridians left and it’s hard to gain fans that move there from other NFL cities without winning.
