With Aaron Rodgers hosting, Jeopardy! contestants whiff on Packers question

Aaron Rodgers was indeed exasperated.

The seventh show of his two-week guest-hosting gig included a Packers-related question on which all three contestants fell silent.

Under the category “Title Waves” and at a value of $400, the answer was this: “In the 1960s these midwesterners earned 5 NFL championship trophies.” After the time expired, Rodgers threw out his hands and said, “Green Bay Packers?” (We also would have accepted, “What the hell’s goin’ on out here?“)

The next answer related to the Boston Celtics. When one of the contestants answered correctly, Rodgers said, “Oh, you know that one, huh?”

Even without Rodgers hosting, anyone who knows anything about football knows that the Packers ran roughshod over the NFL in the 1960s. With Rodgers there, his exasperation was indeed warranted.

  1. Pretty arrogant to think every contestant on Jeopardy is a football fan. I know they’re briefed on some of the topics, but they got a lot of information to study.

  2. We also would have accepted, “What the hell’s goin’ on out here?“

    👏🏼

  3. 1960s is ancient history to most people these days. Sad, as lots of bad and good things happened during the 60s, many of which are still quite relevant today. Alas, most people are too ignorant to study history. Too busy on social media, etc. ha ha.

  4. How many of these “don’t you know who I am” moments does Rodgers have each week?

  5. People have been falling all over themselves for the past week (plus) to insist that Aaron Rodgers has “nailed” every aspect of hosting Jeopardy! I think I will go out on a limb and assume he actually did nail exasperated, since we have all seen that version of Aaron Rodgers before.

  6. In my viewing experience, any football question on Jeopardy is usually met with blank stares and un-pressed buttons. It’s just more funny when Rodgers is hosting and the question is Who are the Green Bay Packers?

  7. I have seen sports topics in Single Jeopardy go completely unanswered with all the questions being easier to get than this. Lots of these contestants haven’t paid any attention to sports at all. Believe it or not there are many people out there who just view it as a game and could care less about who pushed what ball past what line 60 years ago.

  8. Not even many NFL fans really care about the NFL in the 1960s, give or take some individual players.

  9. I watched a few of the Jeopardy episodes he’s hosted. He does a really good job, but I’d rather see him play a few more years in the NFL and pull a Brady and go to another team

  10. With 2 minutes left in the NFC Championship game and trailing by a touchdown, this team decided to kick a field goal.

  11. Considering that the category had 5 sports-related questions and the contestants were able to answer 4 out of those 5 questions, with the Celtics’ title run in the 1950s, plus the 1930s Yankees referred to, the fact that they didn’t try to attempt an answer on Rodgers’ team means that they did him dirty, intentional or not.

    ********
    You’re right.
The world is full of casual NFL fans.
And there are a lot of real fans that love the game and it’s history.
