Jacoby Jones could have a rough night on Friday

For the first night of the draft, the Commissioner takes center stage. On the second night, current and former players announce plenty of the picks.

The best moment came four years ago in Philadelphia, when Cowboys receiver Drew Pearson stirred up Eagles fans with a Hall of Fame level trolling of Philly fans. This year, with the draft in Cleveland, a different receiver has drawn the short straw on behalf of the team that used to be the Browns.

Former Baltimore receiver Jacoby Jones will announce a Ravens pick on Friday night. Even with 25 years of water under the bridge, plenty of folks in Cleveland continue to be salty about the 1996 relocation of the Browns to Baltimore.

Others who may not receive a warm welcome in Cleveland include former Steelers running back Franco Harris and former Bengals tackle Anthony Muñoz. Jones, however, will surely hear it the loudest in a negative.

The loudest cheer surely will be for Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, who will announce the home team’s night two selection.

  1. Uh, didn’t Balt trade their second round pick to KC? Maybe Jones will be back for the third round!

  2. Imagine being salty about losing a team for like an entire two seasons (and being guaranteed a new team over that span)

Imagine having a playoff team with an 11-5 record stolen from you. Then imagine that team winning the super bowl just a couple of years after moving. Then imagine being subjected to 20 years of unwatchable football. Imagine the replacement team being an embarrassment, the laughingstock of the league. All the while the team you lost remains a juggernaut. Yes, we’re salty. No, we’re not going to get over it until we have our own Lombardi trophy(insert Browns joke here).

  4. Lots of exaggeration on both sides concerning the Browns & Ravens. The OG Browns last year in Cleveland was 1995. The Ravens won the Super Bowl in 2000. that’s more than a “couple of years”, and they didn’t exactly light it up those first years in Baltimore.
The Browns franchise wasn’t restored until 1999. Once again, more than a “couple of years”.
You both aren’t entirely wrong though. Just using a lot of hyperbole to make your arguments.

  5. I think David Akers’ troll job was better. Especially considering how things played out the very next season, IN dallas, and Akers even having the opportunity to answer back after the eagles just won the championship AND took tight end dallas goedert away from the cowboys. “Hey dallas, the last time you were in the super bowl, these drafts picks weren’t born” lol.

  6. Imagine having your team sneak out of town in the middle of the night, and then watching freaking Jacksonville get an expansion team while the commissioner of the league says your city should build a museum to remember its football past. The entire situation was the result of Paul Tagliabue’s misjudging and mishandling of the Colts move and looking at a map rather than the actual passion of a fanbase. Baltimore had to wait 11 years for a new team whereas Cleveland waited just three while the league made it clear it would help them. But I got news for you- if Cleveland was just 40 miles away from another franchise, that reward would not have been handed to Cleveland either and they too would have had to go rogue to right the theft. That said it’s true that the 2000 Lombardi made a lot of that animosity to Indianapolis go away, hopefully the Browns will win one soon.

  7. Again, they were guaranteed a new team the whole time. The fact that they’ve been gutter trash for over two decades since is on no one but themselves. Imagine booing Jacoby Jones in 2021 because Art Modell had more business sense than to stay married to a dump like Cleveland in 1995 hahaha

I wasn’t exaggerating, I was just inaccurate, which you were too. It was three seasons. So a FEW years, not a couple. So sorry. Huge difference to be highlighted there, totally changes my stance. /s

  10. Well, no one really likes pathetic, rinky-dink Baltimore for any reason. lol

Mortifying sports town. Ditched the Colts and then needed to steal someone else’s franchise. They’re like an angry puppy pulling at your pantleg.
