Before the first round of the 2021 draft on Thursday, a former 29th overall pick has found a new home.

The Seahawks signed defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche, the club announced on Thursday.

Nkemdiche hasn’t been on a roster since 2019 when he appeared in two games with the Dolphins before Miami waived him in November.

He entered the league with the Cardinals back in 2016. But after he suffered a season-ending knee injury in 2018, Arizona waived him with a failed physical designation early in 2019 training camp.

Nkemdiche had his best season in 2018, recording 4.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss, and seven quarterback hits. He did not record a sack in his other three playing seasons. In all, he’s appeared in 29 games with six starts.

  1. Since the Seahawks don’t have a first round pick to use on a bust, they decided to recycle one from another NFC West team. Good luck with that.

  2. Here’s hoping his new apartment in Seattle is on the ground floor and has no lofts or balcony’s.

    Also he’s not good.

  3. Another timely example of how bad Steve Keim is at his job. Hope someone else is picking players for Arizona today

  4. “Nkemdiche had his best season in 2018, recording 4.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss, and seven quarterback hits.”

If this guy can get back to playing like this it will be a GREAT signing! 🏈

  5. You knew the writing was on the wall for this guy when asked on draft night his plans for his first NFL paycheck. He said “I’m going to buy a tiger”…..

  6. Could see this guy being a bust on draft night, him and his entourage were all wearing the same outfits, wasn’t about football or going to a team and working hard,it was about getting paid and buying some more bling !!!

  7. An Nkemdichi post without a reference to “defenestration”? You’re slipping, Florio!

  8. A ten-cent tackle is a safe bet, esp. when your draft cupboard is bare (again). Honestly, if Pete can get something out of this underachiever, he’d really show me something…This guy has zero work ethic. Maybe being broke has lighted a fire?

  9. If the Seahawks give half a dozen fellows a chance to get back into the NFL, it isn’t really any problem as long as they aren’t carried beyond the obvious decision point. Perhaps one or more come ready to compete & can contribute. If so, good on them. If not, the team should keep trying but they are pretty well set to go.

  10. Let’s hope and pray that Carroll-Schneider obtain as much depth for the offensive line, as they have signed for the defensive line.
