Adam Thielen isn’t a fan of Lambeau Field

The Vikings and the Packers enjoy a fairly bitter rivalry. Minnesota receiver Adam Thielen recently threw a log on the fire.

Appearing on the Golf.com Subpar podcast, Thielen shared his views on Lambeau Field, Green Bay’s home stadium.

“There’s nothing better than leaving Lambeau with a victory,” Thielen said. “There’s literally nothing better. . . . The whole stadium’s not nice. There’s nothing fancy about it. It’s bleacher seats.”

The Vikings have a 2-1-1 record at Lambeau over the past four seasons. On Wednesday night, we’ll find out when the next installment of the series will happen in the stadium with bleacher seats.

Far more important than where the fans are sitting is who will be playing quarterback for the Packers. It’s still not known when we’ll know the answer to that question.

  1. Who cares? I guess this is what happens when you can’t bring home titles. Whiner.

  2. His team played in a stadium where the roof collapsed and had to play in an undersized college stadium until a new stadium could be built.

  3. Perhaps Adam ought to look around his own stadium and see that it is filled with corporate sponsor provided, non football interested attendees who really don’t give a hoot about whether Minnesota wins, or loses…..

  4. Thielen just doesn’t like teams that actually have a trophy cabinet. Vikings haven’t made a to the Super Bowl in 45 years! Skololol

  5. I guess he must have gotten spoiled by the stadium facilities at Minnesota State.

  6. As a Packers season ticket holder, I’ll agree that the bleacher benches suck. But if Thielen can’t see that what makes Lambeau special has nothing to do with being “fancy”, you’d wonder if he’s all too smart or not.

  7. That’s his gripe, bleacher seats? 🙄
He doesn’t even have to sit on them.

C’mon, Adam, the real reason you and other Viking players, along with their fans, hate Lambeau Field is the fact the playing surface is outdoors.
    Admit it.

The wind, rain, sun or snow conflicts with their delicate sensibilities.
Especially since they are all conditioned for tasteless arena ball.
Enjoy your corporate (Bank Name) McStadium. 🤣
    Lambeau’s a classic.

  8. Thielen is just playing around. I’m sure he’s laughing. Don’t get all bent out of shape. Thielen is one guy that will do his serious talking on the football field, and he’ll back it up. I’m not a fan of either team, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned since I’ve been reading PFT, the best rivalry in the NFL is the Packers-Vikings. You people really go after each other. Keep it up. It’s entertaining.

  9. The Packers play in a football stadium. The Vikings play in a glass indoor monstrosity that is more appropriate for growing plants.

I think that’s what Thielen really means.

  10. Packer players have some decent history, but the stadium is a dump.

  11. His team played in a stadium where the roof collapsed and had to play in an undersized college stadium until a new stadium could be built.

So, he knows what a bad stadium looks like and know what good facilities look like too. I mean, NFL teams don’t even fly in or stay in GB… they go through Appleton. Why would you think any player or coach would think GB has nice facilities?

  12. Lambeau is a great venue, but the bleacher seats aren’t great. I’ll give him that. Otherwise, this is just a friendly jab from a rival. Tack it to the bulletin board and use it as motivation/trash talk material later.

  13. Funny, us Packers fans believe Thielin is overrated as well. Hasn’t had a thousand yard season since 2018…

  14. What’s he supposed to say?
At any rate, if Rodgers is out Packers will struggle but be competitive…to a point. My guess is he’ll be there and they’ll win 10 maybe 11. Hopefully the Vikings can get hot and win 11-12. And then A-Aron will get the hell out of the division.

Which is pretty telling considering Lambeau is still at the bottom of his list.

In other words, you’ve never been to US Bank Stadium

  17. Sponsorship or not, the stadium looks like it could use a fresh coat of paint. The ghosts of Lombardi & remembering the Ice Bowl can only go so far.

    No, the seats hurt!

  19. lambeau is a dump, yeah they have some hardware and ancient history, but that’s ALL they have.

  20. Adam isn’t lying here, who is a fan of aluminum seats with no backs? That is high school stuff.

Oh Man! Hit the Vikings fans right where it hurts! Having to wait for their 1.1 Billion dollar state of the art stadium to be built… wicked burn dude!

You do realize that the Packers played quite a few games at County Stadium in Milwaukee in the 80’s/early 90’s, right?

The Bears played a season at the University of Illinois while Soldier Field was being renovated as well. That’s fairly common.

Actually, it doesn’t. Not one bit. Thielen is bush league and his 15 minutes are almost up. I believe in respectful rivalries, and he tossed respect out the window when, as an arrogant rookie, he did a Lambeau Leap. . .at Lambeau. Do something in the league before you go full Ochocinco. Zero respect given, nothing earned, and zero respect in return.

    His “truth” doesn’t faze.

  24. Guess he doesn’t like seeing the Packers’ 13 championship banners to his team’s 0.

  25. US Bank is a cookie-cutter concrete bowl with narrow aisles, strangely steep staircases, and poorly planned people-moving in-general. It is anything but special. It’s got one thing going for it; a shiny glass lid to cover it all. If it were a piece of art it’d be called. “Boring Under Glass.”

  26. Honestly given the rivalry between the two, What do you expect him to say? I’m sure most Packers feel the same way about the Vikings home field. Save the venom, this is what makes the rivalry work and this is what helps us to watch those games every time they’re on. As far as comments like this, bring them on

  27. Whether you’re a fan of the team or not, Lambeau Field is one of the very few stadiums where more NFL legends have played than any other. While most of the newer venues are deluxe ‘stadiums,’ Lambeau is an ‘arena.’ A place where gladiators did battle.

  28. He’s become too good for Blakeskee Stadium. He’s lost his roots. He just thumbed his nose at the fans that filled his college stadium bleachers to watch him play. That’s too bad.

  29. I can assure Adam that section 419 is right on the 50 and the seats are grand and extremely comfortable club seats. One can assume that Adam has never been to the club level or all around the stadium voted best in the NFL.

The visitors locker room and long walk to the field is indeed not nice. Sorry Adam, we will pray for you.

    #OneTeamOneNation

    #PackerNation!

  30. People travel from all over the world just to visit the hallowed ground of Lambeau Field, even in the offseason. The fans have voted time and again to keep our bleacher seats. But you do you, Adam. Enjoy the McStadium for its relatively short lifespan. And being a native purple, Adam, don’t forget to remind your family and friends to start saving their nickels and dimes for the next great extortion event. Because we all know that’s coming.

  31. Lol. We knew this was going to get the packer rubes all butt hurt. It’s just a stadium. Try not to cry too much. Besides, he was right. Your win/loss record or SB wins doesn’t change the fact that your stadium isn’t even as nice as most college stadiums. It’s a relic and a dump.

  32. Not fancy at all? Sorry Adam, but football and fancy don’t belong in the same sentence.

  33. As a Vikings fan I understand Lambeau history and also remember what it looked like in the 70s and 80s when it was a true erector set. They sunk a lot of money into that place over the past 2 or 3 decades to include an upper deck in the end zone that has…believe it or not, actual seats. Don’t forget that Lambeau and the Packers for that matter won’t ever happen again. A small town getting a pro team and keeping it speaks for itself.

  34. I think a lot of Viking fans would take the history, tradition . . . and don’t forget titles, that are associated with Lambeau Field . . . as opposed to our shiny McStadium.

  35. Been to Lambeau several times, and the sightlines are great, the history is cool, I loved parking in some neighborhood guy’s backyard and walking to the game, the field itself is immaculate, and the cheesers have always been friendly during both wins and losses. Having said that, the seating just stinks, the interior, under-stadium amenities are spartan, and the place is a pain to get to. The Vikings stadium (which is almost always ranked 1 or 2 nationally now) is better in most every way than Lambeau other than history, but given that history and aura, not by much. Stadiums can both be good and different at the same time. You can always tell when cheesers are having a rough off-season or something hits home when the “lets compare championships” cracks come out.

  36. Yes, Purple is right. It’s unfair for Packer fans to play the “let’s compare championships” card with us Viking faithful. We can’t fight back.
