The release of the schedule for the first weekend of the 2021 NFL season has led to sportsbooks releasing point spreads for the first 16 games of the year.

A pair of NFC West teams have been installed as the biggest early favorites. William Hill has the 49ers favored by seven points in their road game against the Lions and the Rams favored by seven points at home against the Bears.

The Rams-Bears game will take place on Sunday Night Football and is expected to be the first regular season game with fans at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. It’s also expected to be Matthew Stafford‘s Rams debut.

Week One’s smallest spread is in the Broncos-Giants game. The Giants are favored by one point at the moment. The Saints are 1.5-point favorites over the Packers at home.

The Buccaneers are favored by six points over the Cowboys in the Thursday night season opener. The Chiefs are the only other team favored by six points. They open the season at home against the Browns in a rerun of a playoff game Kansas City won by five points.

Jacksonville is currently favored by two points on the road against the Texans in what should be Trevor Lawrence‘s NFL debut. No. 2 pick Zach Wilson and the Jets are 3.5-point underdogs to the Panthers.

The rest of the lines are:

Steelers at Bills (-5.5).

Cardinals at Titans (-2.5).

Chargers (-2) at Washington Football Team.

Vikings (-2.5) at Bengals.

Eagles at Falcons (-4).

Seahawks at Colts (-2).

Dolphins at Patriots (-2.5).

Ravens (-5.5) at Raiders.

  1. I’m surprised the Packers-Saints game is even on the board. You can’t bet on the over/under for wins this season for the Packers but you can bet on the first game? Seems like who’s playing quarterback would make a big difference.

  2. Dolphins at Patriots is interesting. Typically the Pats would take that one and Miami would then win at home. Seeing the Patriots usually get a slow start at the beginning of the season I would lean towards the Dolphins in week one. This is a week one game that could have playoff implications at the end of the season.

  3. Jags at Texans is the Turkey of opening week, followed very closely by Jets/Panthers.

  4. The Niners should not be favored by 7 points against the Lions.

There is no film on the Lions that the Niners can use to prepare. The Lions have new coaches and a “new” QB, in Goff. THey have installed a new offense and a new defense. The Lions may win a few before the rest of the league can see what they are doing and can prepare.

The Dolphins at the Pats should be interesting. This will be Tua’s first full year as a starter vs the Pats with Cam as the starter (I doubt that the Pats will throw Jones into the fire onthe first game of the season).

  5. Why do people, media talking heads, think the 49ers are a good team? They finished last in their division.

  6. There is plenty of film on Goff, who is 1-6 (I think) against the Shanahan coached 49ers.

  7. Niners should be a 10 point favourite. Sure, this was a 6-10 team when everyone sits with injuries. With Garoppolo and a health D, this a Super Bowl team.

  8. Another new season with the 49ers again dramatically overrated. Will be fun to watch them come in last in the division again.

  9. I’ll take the Raiders (+5.5), the Bears (+7), the Falcons (-4), the Packers (+1.5) and the Vikings (-2.5). I’m starting off 5-0, baby. If Rodgers isn’t in camp in August, that bet is off.
