Aaron Rodgers gets the FOX late afternoon slot Week One, whether with Packers or Broncos

The FOX late Sunday afternoon game in Week One is always one of the premiere games of the NFL schedule. Last year, that’s where the league put Tom Brady vs. Drew Brees in their first matchup as NFC South rivals. This year, that’s where the league is putting Aaron Rodgers — whether he’s with the Packers or the Broncos.

The Packers are reportedly playing the Saints in the FOX late afternoon Sunday game in Week One, while the Broncos are reportedly playing the Giants.

That would put Rodgers in one of the most significant games of the 2021 NFL schedule, regardless of whether Rodgers remains in Green Bay or gets traded to the team that has been most linked to the Packers as a potential trade partner.

We still don’t know whether Rodgers is going to play at all this season, but if he does, the most likely options are remaining with the Packers or getting traded to the Broncos. In either case, he’ll be playing at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX in Week One.

  1. Someone is gonna have to explain to me why denver vs the giants is significant. Did i take a long nap and miss a year and those 2 teams actually made the playoffs?

  2. “That would put Rodgers in one of the most significant games of the 2021 NFL schedule…”

    Or not.

I think a Denver/Green Bay game would have been more significant assuming his highness decides to play football at all…

  3. It’s amazing how the world has basically decided that the Broncos will be Rodgers’ new team. like some kind of arranged marriage as I have yet for anyone to even reveal a “rumor” out of Denver. Not to mention what Denver even has to offer. what? three late 1st round picks starting in 2022? Why not wait until February and other teams will be in position to offer a better 2022 1st round pick?

  4. If Rodgers is back playing this year, he’ll be with the Packers. For the division rivals and their fans hoping he won’t, wouldn’t it be sweeter seeing him have an abyssmal season playing for the Packers than some other team? Then there’s no excuses. The teams just need to use him playing for the Packers as motivation to play better instead of hoping for an easy way out.

  5. So basically I have to wait and see what happens with Rodgers to know whether the Giants open at 1-0 or 0-1. Awesome.

  6. How specific to pick the Broncos. Seem like something Is already known.

  7. So what exactly are the Broncos going to trade to the Packers to get Rogers? The Broncos are more than a few players away from a winning roster so why would Rogers want to go there when the Packers played for the NFC Championship last year? Plus he’d have to play Mahomes twice a year along with the Chargers new QB. I think this is just wishful thinking for a lot of you “experts” out there. It would make a whole lot more sense for Rogers to end up in Miami, the Dolphins would gladly give up Tua for Rogers and they have a roster that could take him to the playoffs.

  8. Hey Darthhelmut – Didn’t the Broncos beat the Dolphins with Drew Lock and half of their team on IR? The Broncos are loaded and just a QB away from being title contenders. That being said, it’s a low probability that Rodgers goes anywhere. He will likely be back in GB.

  9. People are forgetting neither Rodgers nor the Packers have said anything. Rodgers’ best chance to get back to a SuperBowl is staying right where he is. That’s what should happen and I believe that’s what will happen. If Rodgers’ grudges dictate otherwise, don’t let the door hit you Aaron.

  10. Gut feeling is Vegas…if he gets Jeopardy Job..its a 20 min flight to LA..new stadium,Gruden, great fans, and the Raiders have a better trade package for the Packers.

  11. Why would the Packers want Tua?They have a 1st round QB already on the team without the injury history Tua has?Enough already.AR wants west coast as well.
Broncos are a ways away from the playoffs yet alone the SB with Rodgers.Might be the worst team in the division even with him.Everyone is overvaluing the talent they have and AR needs to learn a new offense.First year with LaFleur he wasn’t great.Good but not MVP.
AR will be back with GB with a fat new contract and more say in who stays and goes. Not sure if that is the right thing only time will tell.Definitely not the path the NFL should follow.Looks more like the NBA then and that sucks!
.I would trade him if GB could get 3 # 1 picks. You can set your franchise up for 10 years if you use draft wisely. One year for Love to take his lumps and learn means higher picks plus the additional picks GB could be back on top of the division for 10 more years. That is move more consistent with Packer organization and how it is structured without an owner. Why GB is a consistent playoff team and SB contender.Fans may not always like them not going “all in” for 1 season but it’s hard to argue with the results. If Love is as good as GB brass thinks he is there may be the 14th championship in next 4-5 years.Don’t want to hear the rips on Love either.Nobody has any idea how good or bad he will be.He could have easily been 2nd pick in this years draft if he stayed in school and played well.If you look back some scouts liked him better than Herbert,Tua and Hurts all starters in the league now.

The Broncos are loaded? Maybe you should check the stats and then explain how they have been at the bottom of almost every category in offense for the last 3 years. Yeah they beat the Dolphins last year and the Raiders beat the Chiefs last year too. Even a blind dog finds a bone every once in awhile.
