Dolphins “entire offense” built as a collaborative effort

For the third time in as many years with Brian Flores as head coach, the Dolphins are breaking in a new offense and the guys in charge of it weren’t terribly forthcoming about what it will look like on Monday.

Co-offensive coordinators George Godsey and Eric Studesville have both been on Flores’ staff the last two years and Godsey said “some things we’ve done well” will remain in the offense. He and Studesville also said that they will be incorporating new concepts brought in by all members of the staff in hopes of being a “diverse” offense come the regular season.

“We’re all involved in it,” Studesville said, via Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. “We all have input. Players are involved. The entire offense is built to be a collaborative effort. Right now, it’s building that way. That’s how we’ve done the playbook. That’s how we started with the players right now. That’s how we’re doing things in the walk-throughs, and I don’t see that changing in any way going forward. It’s all collaborative. We’re all going to have input on it.”

They didn’t say who will be calling plays once the Dolphins hit the field this fall and Studesville said the playbook is “a living document” that will continue to grow as all of the collaborators see how all the pieces fit during practice sessions.

  1. Buffalo’s draft says it all. They are scared. Everyone should be.

Maybe not as much in 2021 as 2022-2030.

Was just thinking the same thing. After that week 17 matchup this past season, the Bills were definitely terrified of the Dolphins going forward. Had to spend a lot off draft capital to beef up their second and third strings to at least attempt to match up properly.

  3. As a Dolphins’ fan, I hope the plan is more coherent than that response.

  4. This is great news. From Tua unable to retain info and Miami constantly patting itself on the back every week thinking they’ve arrived, I couldn’t ask for anything more.

  5. Co-offensive coordinators

Why aren’t people making a big deal about this? That has to be one of the worst ideas I’ve ever heard of. You’re either in charge of the offense or you’re not. You’re not co-in-charge of the offense, at least in any logical situation.

  6. Flores won 10 games last year with Fitzmagic and a rookie QB coming off a major injury, no OTA’s, no offseason, a depleted WR core and a hodgepodge of RB’s. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt till he proves otherwise.

Sounds like the staff is clueless and has no direction!

It’s funny that you think week 17 has any bearing on week 2 this year.

    Like HILARIOUS.

Good luck competing over the next 10 years with the NFL’s most erratic QB. Guys who lead the NFL in dropped int’s don’t end up with trophies, but maybe a bloated contract.
