A.J. Brown trying to recruit Julio Jones to Titans

A.J. Brown is the latest Titans player to state publicly that he wants Julio Jones in Tennessee.

Brown posted a message to Jones on Instagram, telling Jones that he’s fine with Jones becoming the Titans’ No. 1 receiver, but he’s also ready to be there to support Jones.

“Trust me, if you want to carry the load, you can carry it, but if you get tired, you know I can carry you,” Brown said.

Brown is the second high-profile member of the Titans’ offense to appeal publicly for a Jones trade, following running back Derrick Henry.

Ultimately, whether Jones ends up in Tennessee is up to the Falcons and the Titans, but Jones’ contract includes a fully guaranteed salary of $15.3 million in 2021, and the Titans are near the bottom of the NFL in available cap space. So where the recruiting pitch might come in handy is in persuading Jones to adjust his contract to make it easier for the Titans to afford him. Jones may be more eager to make a deal with a team where the star players are eager to have him as a teammate.

  1. lol recruit all you want, it’s up to the front office if they want to hand over draft picks and absorb that bloated contract. lol instagram.

  2. That’s an impressive sales pitch from 2 of the Titans stars. I wonder how much of a salary cut they are prepared to take for the team to be able to fit him in under the cap.

  3. Let me understand something… I thought Julio Jones need to be traded.

So therefore he will go to the highest bidder as Atlanta will get the best deal they can.

Therefore AJ Brown so called recruiting is pointless and he is an idiot.

  4. It’s all going to come down to what Julio really wants.

If he legit wants to play for a contender, he may have to restructure his contract a bit. If he wants to be paid what his contract states, he may have to remain in Atlanta.

I don’t blame he either way.

But, the titans would be a great fit. The defense has to stay honest with Henry there, and JJ won’t have to be the entire offense.

  5. Thought he wanted to go to a championship contender? The Titans are not one.

  6. DeAndre Hopkins is recruiting him on Twitter too. Difference is the Cardinals have plenty of cap space, while the Titans have none, and it’s not up to Jones.

  7. lol based on what i saw in the playoffs if these guys are going to add 15 mill to their books it had better be on the defensive side..

“Let me understand something” well that would be a nice change if you did, ever heard the saying people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones?

  9. Remember this headline from February: ‘“WR Marvin Jones wants to chase Super Bowl in free agency’’ ? Jones ended up signing w Jax because it’s always about the money.

  10. Definitely up to front office. And this regime typically doesn’t restructure for cap space. But it’s as simple as a restructure on the Tannehill contract and they can easily absorb this cap hit if they want to get this done.

  11. Jones wants (1) to be traded, (2) to a contender, and (3) to be paid his full salary. He can pick two of those, but he ain’t getting all three.

  12. PLEASE GOD don’t let the NFL become the NBA where all these players want to go play togather and create the so called super teams. I can’t even watch the NBA anymore because I no longer care. If I want to watch buddies play together I’ll go to the playground.

Generally, I can agree we need better play from our D. Clowney and Beasley didn’t help a bit. Our playoff loss to the Ravens, we gave up 20pts.

They are more than willing to give up $8-10m of Ryan Tannehill’s compensation!

  15. Aging receivers with injury issues should be paid barely more than rbs over 30

  16. Trent Brown pitched NE and Julio even said he wanted to play with Cam. First off he must not of watched Cam last season who was a complete waste of the position last year and hardly a shell of the old Cam and second to go to NE he would have to convince ATL to pay most of his bloated number next year. #NOTGONNAHAPPEN

  17. I bet he ends up in Chicago. Along with their defense I don’t even think Tom Brady could stop Justin Fields playing with Julio Jones. This could be the move that puts the Bears in the Super Bowl.

  18. Julio is seriously on the decline. He is no longer an elite player. Those that think he is are stuck in 2017.
