Le’Veon Bell: I’ll never play for Andy Reid again, I’d retire first

Le'Veon Bell apparently did not enjoy his brief tenure with the Chiefs.

Bell, who signed with the Chiefs in Week Six last year, played sparingly for them during the regular season and didn’t play at all in the Super Bowl, wrote in an Instagram comment that he will never play for Chiefs head coach Andy Reid again.

“I’ll never play for Andy Reid again,” Bell wrote. “I’d retire first.”

Bell’s comments came on, of all things, an Instagram post about someone spending $700 at McDonald’s. Bell posted a comment about the post, and then several people who thought it was interesting that a well-known NFL player was posting in the comments using his verified Instagram account started asking him questions.

It’s unclear what Bell has against Reid, but Bell does claim he will keep playing in the NFL. At this point, it may be tough for Bell to find any coach who would want him. Reid surely wouldn’t.

  1. Mike Tomlin and Andy Reid are both HOF coaches. Keep looking, Le’Veon. Keep trying to discover the greener grass. Maybe I should have used a different term. Or maybe not. Maybe he should try a Northern California team. I bet he’d be happy, regardless of the coach. The grass is definitely greener in NorCal.

  2. I think its probably the QB too but he just didnt want to come out and say it. I heard that Bell was complaining that his QB cant even throw a touchdown in the Super Bowl.

  3. Had his chance to play for Buffalo and be heavily involved, but wanted to play in KC. Good luck to this guy!

  4. Just spitballing here but I’m thinking Andy Reid isn’t terribly interested in having Le’Veon play for him again either.

  5. I’ve got news for him, there are a bunch of active coaches he will never play for,

  6. I spent $25.00 there last night ,that mean you don’t like me also ? WHO CARES, unless it was COACH REID and you didn’t get any “CRY BABY”.

  7. Ya, Andy is such a mean guy… guys like Alex Smith, Donavan McNabb, and Patrick Mahomes hate him. Oh wait, no, they all love him. He’s a players coach that bring guys in and “if” they can help they get to play. If not, they ride the bench. Deal with it, you weren’t half the player you thought you were.

  8. I had no idea the Chiefs had even signed him last year. What a waste of talent

The grass may be greener in other locations, but just as hard to cut!

  10. Andy Reid is one of the most respected coaches in the the league. Especially as a players coach, that’s just how he rolls.

Le’veon Bell will regret his comments and I’d put money on him coming out an apologizing for them once people convince him how stupid it is.

  11. If you can’t play for Andy Reid that’s probably a “you” problem…

Reid is a dictator no one wants to play for.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
That is the most ridiculous post that I have read in quite some time. I am A DIE-HARD Dolphins fan and even I know that Andy Reid is a players coach. No one wants to play for him? Then how come KC keeps getting all the best free agents, year after year? If the player is unhappy, it is because of the player, not the coach.

  13. Well Me’Veon, there’s always Canada. Naw, they probably don’t want you, either. The 3rd-time’s-a-charm XFL? Or the reborn USFL? Maybe that Fan Controlled Football thing?

  14. First he disparages the Jets and now it’s his next employer. This guy can’t see it’s just that he doesn’t have it anymore and needs to just stop whining.

  15. “I’ll never play for Andy Reid again,” Bell wrote. “I’d retire first.”

Thats OK, no one you’ve ever played for will bring you back to play again either.

  16. But, but…

Miami was willing to sign you last year, and make you the starter. But you decided to go to KC, evidently to go to the Super Bowl (which you did), even though they had drafted Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the first round earlier that year? How much did you really think you were going to play? Enough to start in the Super Bowl?

Dude, you should have gone to Miami and you would could have a chance to salvage your career. This one is on you, sir.

  17. I’m kinda thinking he really has no desire to play. So easier to make others the bad guy. He wants the money but doesnt really love the game. Plus hes slower than me and I’m 57 and use a cane.

  18. Andy Reid gave Mike Vick an opportunity after getting out of prison. Even the ex-convict sings the praises of Reid.
Bell definitely has some issues. Apparently Reid told him who was in charge and Bell didn’t like it.

  19. Thanks for the good read Le’Veon, maybe he should fight Pacman. I hope he does, and that Pacman destroys him.

    ‐—–-‐—–‐‐———————————-‐–‐———————————————

You are working on the presumption that he will be convinced of how stupid his statement was…..I am not as sure that Bell has the intelligence or humility to ever come to this point of view.

  21. I forgot the Cheifs signed him. Oh well please enjoy your retirement having stolen checks for the past 4-5 years!

  22. Remember when this guy sat out an entire year and committed career suicide? Left money on the table and signed with the jets. Lol.

Best part there were morons on here championing his decision.

  23. So lets see, And Reid is Eagles HC for 14yrs? Multiple trips to nhc title game, and super bowl. Drafted some of THE best players ever. Holds all kinds of records in Philly.
Goes the KC, and starts doing it again.. multiple trips to the AFC title game, superbowl appearanes, and wins, and players are clamoring to pay in KC now.
    Vs.
A loud mouth, never did much but be a cancer in the locker room on multiple teams..
Hmm..hall of fame coach vs a washed up RB who noone will remeber 2 yrs after hes outta the game.

  24. Andy Reid is person who puts football over family. Money and prestige is more important to him then being a father. He is just another parent who cares about money over his family. It is pathetic that people praise him.

  25. Isn’t he stating the obvious? Side note. The Steelers did what you should do with an RB. Ride the tread off on their first contract and then get rid of them. The Cowboys went the other direction, and you see how that’s worked out. I just could never justify paying a lot of money to that position unless it’s an AP level player, and even then I’d think about it real hard.

  26. Bell has learned that money can’t buy everything, and Reid has learned that football doesn’t solve life woes.

Behind the shiny veneer, there are a lot of cautionary tales in sports.

  27. This has to be over a dispute regarding playing time. A RB like him doesn’t want to go somewhere to sit on a bench, especially when he’s trying to earn another long term deal before his career is over.

I just think it’s funny that he plays for two of the best player friendly coaches and basically burns both bridges. People will stop building bridges to you if all you’re going to do is burn them. Not sure where he ends up, but it’s going to be very cheap if at all.

  28. It’s ok guys, he’s just writing an article called, How to Lose a Career in 10 Days..

  29. Let’s see how long it takes for Chiefs players to come to Reid’s defense. If Bell had any friends on the Chiefs team before the comment, he probably doesn’t have them now.

  30. Bell was on his way to making the HOF when he decided to throw away millions & 2 years (or was it 3 years) of his playing career by sitting it out.

Then he went to the JETS!!!!

Now he’s bad mouthing the coach of one of the best teams in the NFL.

Bell needs a new manager or a new therapist. Or may he needs Brady to befriend him.

  31. I’ve had players coaches and authoritarian coaches.
Players Coach in my experience just means Plays Favorites Coach so there might be a little something to his logic.

  32. Well, obviously you won’t ever play for Ried again since the Chiefs won’t be offering you a contract. And by the way, not being offered a contract in the NFL isn’t really called “retirement”, if that is the case then I will never play for Andy Reid and will be retiring from the NFL to avoid the situation – like everyone else posting on this site.

  33. In a strange ending to this story….one day Le’Veon Bell will be behind a counter bagging up $700 worth of McDonalds.

  34. Bell tanked his career with his dumb holdout. The time away from the game did not help him, nor did playing for the Jets. Now he’s done. Throwing shade on Andy Reid has got to be one of the worst looks for a player. He’s been around forever, has a Super Bowl under his belt and has led two separate teams to Super Bowl appearances. Andy Reid is a tier 1 NFL coach and likely first ballot Hall of Famer. Plus, he is extremely well liked and respected within the league.

    Good move, dummy.

  35. Bell doesn’t understand he played on an offense based on the passing game. Did he expect to become the feature back in front of Hilaire, who by the way had an average of 10 touches a game in the regular season, and 15 touches in all the 2020 post season. I guess it’s not too late for him to understand the situation he was in, and go to a team where he’ll get 20 touches plus.

  36. Like most I think I enjoy the Chiefs aerial circus and Mahomes, at least when not playing my team. But perhaps a KC fan knows if this is more than a guy being mad about his touches, his role in an offense he just came to?? Cause this just seems Bell showing some sporting petulance in my opinion. You weren’t a multi year cog of the offense. You aren’t a spring chicken at your position. Frankly he’s just hurting his chances of hanging on as a year to year guy on contenders with this talk. Not smart business to get touches, $, or contract years.

  37. Lev Bell will boxing some You Tube influencer on Pay per View this time next year.

Reid is a dictator no one wants to play for.
    —–
You could say the same about Belichick. That’s why Tb12 left and won a Superbowl without him.

  39. Is there anyone out there who didn’t think he’d suck once he got his money?

  40. When you keep thinking Everyone Else is the problem, it’s time to start looking in the mirror

  41. Well to be honest kc signed him so no other contender could. It is his fault he couldn’t find his was onto the field. It is not like he had to beat out a great bunch of backs.

  42. Life truly comes at you fast, The happiest guy right now is Adam Gase who was just thrown a Lifeline. All this shows is that Le’Veon Bell is not the sharpest tool in the box because even if you felt that way just keep it to yourself since anymore Drama going forward then it automatically would turn towards you whether it’s justified or not.

  43. Look, as Eagles fans and Chiefs fans know very well, Reid has made some horrific in game decisions and has had his team ill-prepared for some big games. But no one can honestly say Reid isn’t a great coach to play for.

  44. If you can’t get along with Andy Reid as one of his players, you won’t be able to get along with any NFL coach in the league today. Andy Reid is a well know players coach and from what I’ve seen, Tomlin is the same kind of guy/coach. I can understand if you and Gase didn’t get along, but this pattern seems to be a Laveon problem instead of a Andy Reid problem. The good thing is we probably won’t have to deal with Bell’s nonsense much longer anyway. His comments may have just sealed his fate to be exercising in the driveway, running his mouth, and watch the NFL continuing on without his services being needed.

  45. I have a feeling playing for Andy Reid – or any other NFL coach – for that matter won’t be a problem for him. Boy, was Mike Tomlin spot on about this clown.

  46. Playing in the NFL is a privilege, no matter what heights you attain. There’s no entitlement. You’re only as good as your last outing. Even if you feel slighted, keep it to yourself. There’s NOTHING to be gained by putting comments like this out for public consumption.

  47. Didn’t he retire a few years ago? I’ve never seen him play since Pittsburgh..

  48. Like other players, not to be mentioned, they blame everyone but themselves for the situation they are in. Attitude is everything and his is poor.

  49. Sounds like he wants to be Le’Veon Bell of the Ball. He might just have to retire.

  50. if Zeke goes down i could see Jerry signing Bell…and he won’t be a difference maker in Dallas either…

    _____________

Le’Veon earned over $28 million in two seasons with the Jets.

  52. Steelers fans cuckoo for their laundry. Reid does the nice guy thing well for his image. Thing is most NFL coaches are jerks who will use people or sell em a line of BS. Conflating Reid w/ Tomlin is lunacy. Tomlin let AB run amock until it got out of hand. Bell was used to leeway, then the sorry Adam Gase steered Jets were the only ones calling w/ a high end contract. Oil and water was what he found in KC, that doesn’t surpise me.
Bell was amazing, you all were dying to take him 1st pick of your fantasy drafts. He had little leverage in the business, his best years are behind him, and were before he ever got the chance to get paid. You all act as if $ and fame wouldn’t alter your ability to take crap from your boss.

    ____________

Bell has earned over $44 million in his career. Not only did he have a chance to get paid, he did get paid.

  54. You could substitute “Mike Tomlin” for “Andy Reid” and it would fit Bell, too.

  55. Reid will never win another Super Bowl; he’s done.

Why he would run off a generational talent like Bell is beyond me-

  56. Thank you Le’veon for saying this.

    Sincerely,
The Green Bay Packers fan base!

  57. He night not even play for another coach, lol. If you can’t make it work for Tomlin or Reid who are by all accounts “players coaches” you might just not belong in the league. Like they say “if it’s always everyone else, it’s probably you”

  58. Another “entitled” under-appreciated player that CAN be replaced.

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  59. Since he tends to messily divorce HOF coaches Belichick would be his next logical step.

  60. Reid fired Bell. Why is Bell saying that he wouldn’t work for Reid? Reid isn’t even asking.

  61. Saying you’re retiring sounds way better than acknowledging nobody is offering you a job. Instead of saying he won’t ever play for Reid again he might has well have added “or any other NFL coach” to the end of the sentence.

  62. Andy Reid= Class Act.
    Le’Veon Bell = Act
    ______________________________________
    Simplified it for you.

  63. Sounds like there could be one heck of a story here.

I am more than a little bit surprised by this. Perhaps Eagles and Chiefs fans will correct me on this, but over the years I’ve always been under the impression that Reid is a very player friendly coach.

  64. When the only common factor in all your dysfunctional relationships is you…
