Trent Brown working out in New England during time off, hoping for repeat of 2018

Patriots offensive tackle Trent Brown has always had the physical tools to be an elite NFL lineman, but he hasn’t always put it all together. His best season, however, came in 2018 when he was with the Patriots for a year, and now he’s back with the Patriots and planning to run it back.

Although NFL players are free to do whatever they want during the six weeks between mandatory minicamp and training camp, Brown said that he is staying in New England so that he can continue doing the team’s prescribed strength and conditioning program at the team facility. He said that’s exactly what he did in 2018.

“I’m just following that same blueprint,” Brown said, via Mike Reiss of ESPN.

Brown played so well for the Patriots in 2018 that the Raiders signed him to a four-year, $66 million contract in 2019. He didn’t play at the same level during his two years with the Raiders, but now he’s back in New England, and the Patriots would love to see him back at his 2018 form.

  1. If he’s on his game & the line stays healthy, they will be a force to deal with…. All aspects of the offense will improve except Cam…. He’s maxed out already & is a lousy passer

  2. It’s a good low risk move for Patriots and good move for both sides. Swapping a 5th for a 7th isnt a huge difference and the reworked 1 year deal made it good for Brown as he likely got more than he would’ve in free agency but gives him a chance to re-enter free agency next yr with the hope of better recent game tape.

  3. New headline: Trent Brown needs extra conditioning due to being over weight and out of shape

  4. Probably more like a repeat of last year. Another player who signed a huge contract and then lost his will.

  5. Welcome back, beast!

“No one wants to play for BB”

    bawahahahaa

    ab wahahah!

He took a paycut to get dealt away from Gruden
    and be reunited with BB.

  7. He won’t admit that he was out of shape and gained almost 50 pounds when he played for the Raiders.

He’d probably admit that. Gruden’s show is a lot different than BBs. He knows he needs structure which is why he loves playing in NE.

It just dispels another myth about NE with “no one wants to play for BB” and “it was all about Brady”.

    Nope, no it wasn’t.

  9. No Scar this time around. He took a pay cut because the market dried up. 3 years older.
    Patriots…LOL!!!

  10. Brady 1
    Bill B 0

Bill is just average coach without Brady making him look good.

  11. It was all about Brady LOL

NE will finish 3rd. Too many high price overvalued FA signings to fix the horrible drafting over the years. Lack of skill at QB. Let’s just be real

More of getting out of that dumpster fire in Vegas and accepting a restructured contract for a trade than wanting to play for BB.

  12. I belive he also trains with Eddie Lacy at IHOP before workouts, and Golden Corall after workouts.

Meanwhile, multiple OL for the Raiders were being named to the Pro Bowl while Trent Brown was asking for thirds at dinner while on IR. The myth? Tell me about all those discounts players took to play for the Pats this season. All about Brady? It was. As a HC, over the course of 6 seasons without a player named Brady on the roster, how many SBs has BB been to? Answer=0

He has been to 3, actuallly. 2 rings in 3 tries and the gameplan with one of those sits on the wall in Canton, OH. Try to keep up, Christy.

BB drafted and developed Brady. Brady owes his entire pro existence to BB’s drafting, developing and promotion of the flabby 6th rd pick no one wanted.

Bledsoe also put NE into SB 36, not Brady. Brady also crapped down his leg twice vs the Giants with his “preferred” shotgun spread base yo the detriment of the entire team, in each case the Ds putting the team into those super bowls in the first place.

    Try to keep up.

  15. Brady owes his existence to BB? Rofl get off your knees and stop being such a bootlicker. I suppose BB made Gronk such a beast as well? Puleease

Players make the league. Coaches help.

  16. Brady was the GOAT and Edelman was the HEART of those last three Patriots championships. Edelman openly acknowledges the role his coaches and teammates played in his development and success. Brady acknowledges it, just not so openly.

I watched Durant credit the Bucks, deflect credit, and praise his teammates in last night’s postgame interview. Harden talked about his injuries. The different approach was stark.

Edelman is more like Durant. Brady tries but the chip on his shoulder is too big to be that selfless.

  17. It takes a TEAM to win a SB, doesn’t it? HC with the coaching staff puts the TEAM together, don’t they? And the PLAYERS follow the gameplan put together by the HC, OC, and DC, right? Someone please tell me if I’m wrong.

  18. The Brady Factor. Brown played with the GOAT in a Super Bowl-winning season. So, he knows that Lombardi trophies in February begin with work (and more work) in the summer. This is not surprising.
