The No. 1 pick of the 2021 draft has put pen to paper.

According to multiple reports, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has signed his four-year rookie contract. Jacksonville will have to make a decision on the quarterback’s fifth-year option in the spring of 2024.

Lawrence’s slotted deal is worth $36.8 million with a $24.1 million signing bonus.

The quarterback is the second of five first-round signal-callers to agree to his first pro deal. Chicago’s Justin Fields, the draft’s No. 11 overall pick, signed last month. New York’s Zach Wilson (No. 2 overall), San Francisco’s Trey Lance (No. 3), and New England’s Mac Jones (No. 15) have yet to sign.

Lawrence is expected to be the Jaguars’ starter in Week One. Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer said recently that the QB has progressed “very well” since Jacksonville selected him in April.

  1. Geez, “progressed well” is now the stamp of approval, but when LaFleur said the same exact thing about Jordan Love, the haters were whining “bust!” Jealousy has no boundaries.

  2. Condolences Trevor, hopefully the next 5 years won’t ruin Gabbert your career

  3. Too bad he couldn’t have ended up with a legitimate NFL coach instead of the next college coach to figure out their program only works with 18-23 year old kids. He may have had a chance to avoid becoming the next big draft bust.

  4. Lawrence to Tebow will be unstoppable on the goal line. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Lawrence vs Fields in the Super Bowl.

  5. Even these rookie wage-scale deals are starting to look pretty darn big for untested players. Though, of course, I remember Sam Bradford’s 6-year $78 million contract in 2011.

  6. He will be good not great. The accuracy isn’t there. Maybe as time goes he will be great. Not overly impressed with any of the rookie QBs tbh but Wilson has the system to do pretty well in.

    Awwwww. . .
    Jags fans are adorable!

  8. Hopefully Darrell Bevell can play the same role for Urban Meyer, that Norv Turner played for Jimmy Johnson and the Cowboys. I’ve heard all the talk about college coaches becoming pro coaches, and all the comparisons, but the best comparison is Jimmy Johnson. He joined the Cowboys when they had the number one pick, and it was the year HOFer Troy Aikman was coming out of college. Troy went 0-11 his rookie year, but eventually, with help from Norv Turner, became a three time super bowl winner, and HOF QB.
