Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce says that February’s 31-9 defeat at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV has him eagerly anticipating the start of the upcoming season and the chance to chase another title.

That was pretty embarrassing man, taking that last loss down there in Tampa, man,” Kelce said during an NFL Network interview. “If you’re not motivated after taking a shellacking like that, I don’t know what’s wrong with you. I want to go win one more than I ever wanted to get one in the first place and that’s everybody in that building, man.”

The Chiefs were clear favorites to repeat last season before they crossed Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in Tampa. Injuries along the offensive line late in the season and playoffs left a depleted unit nearly helpless against the Buccaneers strong defensive front. The mismatch neutered Kelce, Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs Offense as Tampa rolled to the title.

While Kansas City has had some turnover along their offensive line, it’s a group that will again by an AFC favorite to reach this year’s championship game in Los Angeles.

Kelce is looking forward to that journey beginning again with the Chiefs.

“It’s just exciting times and everybody’s motivated to just get better and go out here and try to win a Super Bowl, man,” Kelce said.

  1. This is why I was so envious of the Lions landing Sewell. You can have the best WR, QB and TE in the league but if you don’t have a LT and a RT it doesn’t mean much. KC did a nice job reloading their like too.

  2. He’s gonna be bummed out when they lose to the Pats again in the AFC championship game. 😛

Whom will be led by Mac Jones….. THANK YOU Jets, 49ers, Chicago & Denver!!!!

  4. No one can argue their offensive line was the main issue that game, definitely made Tampa’s already good defense even better, but where was KCs defense? They let up 31 points (easily could’ve been more if they didn’t coast all of 4th quarter). Can’t blame everything on the offensive line.

And I blame Mahomes a lot too, he didn’t adjust to ‘what the defense gave join’ underneath, short, intermediate routes, etc…of course I’d take him as my QB every day of the week without hesitation but he’s played pretty poorly now in two SBs.

  5. Mahomes has chioked badly in 2 SBs. Strange how the media ignores this.

Also, the team is in a raging cap hell with some age to it, so the law of averages will start creeping in soon. Injuries, tougher competition, etc.

These franchises that whistle past the graveyard make me laugh.

  6. So is this a news story because a guy admitted that he got his butt kicked? We know dude, we all watched it.

  7. We all know dynasties are a thing of the past in the NFL. Even the Pats fans admit they would have only had 1 or 2 in a decade without the franchise-wide cheating epidemic, Aaron Hernandez-prototype lawless player and the weakest divisional opponents in the history of the NFL.

The Pats were 2-6 against teams that frost went on to finish last season with a winning record.

  9. Still funny how everyone completely disregards the way the Bucs offense ran roughshod over the KC D on the way to victory. Brady completed 80% of his passes for 3 scores in the 1st half alone, and the Bucs added 145yds on the ground by the end of the game. Those numbers have nothing to do with the KC OL. The Bucs D was definitely dominant, but not the only reason they won.

  10. It’s no use, Kelce. All hope is gone. I’ve been assured by more than one Bucs fan that they will never ever lose another game–ever–as long as the NFL exists and heaven and earth remain.

Yeah go with all those lame excuses they have worked so well in the past.

  12. Chiefs fans better start worrying about the defense Belichick has assembled in new England. This defense will terrorize opponents.

No Chiefs thread is complete until “raging cap hell” guy shows up. Lol.

Ravens will roll over KC in week two

The Ravens have not beaten the Chiefs since Mahomes was drafted. Fact: 8 out of 11 Ravens wins last season came against teams that went on to finish the season under .500 Tell us all again how the Ravens will roll the Chiefs.
