Deshaun Watson training with Justin Fields, Jordan Love

Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson may not be on the field when the NFL regular season begins in two months. But he’s training if he will be.

Watson has been working out with Bears quarterback Justin Fields and Packers quarterback Jordan Love this summer. Agent David Mulugheta shared a video of the three training together on Instagram.

For Fields and Love, it’s an opportunity for young players to train with one of the best quarterbacks in football. Fields is a 2021 first-round pick who is currently the backup to Andy Dalton in Chicago, while Love is a 2020 first-round pick who is currently the backup to Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay. But Fields is likely to usurp Dalton at some point this season, while Love would get the nod if Rodgers ends up not playing for the Packers this year. Both young quarterbacks could benefit from learning from Watson.

But Watson remains embroiled in allegations from more than 20 women who claim he engaged in sexual misconduct while they were giving him massages. And Watson has also indicated that he doesn’t want to return to the Texans and wants to be traded. It’s highly unlikely that either of those issues — let alone both — will be resolved before the start of the season, and that means Watson is unlikely to be on the field.

When Watson will return, and which team he’ll be on when that happens, remains to be seen.

  1. Just wait until the Packers trade Rodgers to the Texans for Watson.

Seems the most logical resolution for two QBs who want to move on and for the Packers management who’ve had enough.

  2. I’m sure this seemed like a good opportunity to Love and Fields, but they may one day wonder why their agent put them in this situation. Associating with Watson normalizes his behavior, which was questionable at best.

  3. Watson the QB is nothing to do with Watson the man. People need to make the distinction and separate the two. The others will not be in danger working with him, and they might learn something…

  4. Not a good PR move for Love and Fields. Stay away from Watson until his situation is resolved. And for the love of god, do not take him up on any offers for a massage!

  5. 90% of NFL players do workouts with other players in groups of varying numbers in the offseason.

Working out with other talented players is always a good thing. You gain not only knowledge about a path to success in the NFL, but also valuable knowledge about diet, different players regimens, and etc…

    All positives.

Flawed thinking, the Man is the QB and its not separable. Training together creates a bond and by natural association becomes influential to include non-football things. How do you think Watson got into the mess he’s in? He was influenced to the scene by another football player and then on his own took it to another level. This isn’t new to those in the know around Houston and starts around 2018. In this age, your image is almost just as important as your skill but Love and Fields are represented by the same agency as Watson so I’m sure that’s how this came about. I bet if you ask the Packers and Bears how they feel about them working out with Watson, they would cringe.

  7. Not sure these are the optics I’d want for my young QBs if I were the Packers or bears.

  8. Watson is radioactive. These guys should absolutely keep their distance. There are plenty of quality characters out there they can learn from.

  9. Deshaun Watson has as many playoff wins as Lamar Jackson, Dak Prescott, and Baker Mayfield. And he hasn’t looked nearly as good as most of those (way more often criticized) guys did in the biggest games of their careers. I don’t know why he gets the hype he does. He’s nothing special.

  10. No wonder Rodgers is staying away from green hay with questionable judgement like this

  11. It’s good experience for the kids. If you have money, and these kids will have plenty, there’s always going to be the possibility that someone else will attempt to extort a portion of that money. Watson has been found guilty of anything, and when the league interviewed some of the women involved, they didn’t make a very strong case. Otherwise, the league would have acted a long time ago. There’s basically nothing to the charges except extortion.

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

That makes sense, considering they’re practicing in Austin. Good catch.

  13. Watson gave the other guys the names and numbers of 50-60 good massage places to call when they are in a pinch

There are always two sides to every story. The truth is usually near the center. There can be anomalies, but this kid isn’t one. He knows what he’s doing.

  15. What the hell are those two clowns associating themselves with Watson, an alleged sexual predator. Looking for some advice on a hush hush masseuse who wont talk?

  16. I’m more concerned about the Packers and Bears future franchise QBs working out together honestly.

  17. “Hey fellas…After we work out…how about we go get us a massage?”
