Peyton Manning doubts Broncos will trade for Aaron Rodgers

Peyton Manning put the finishing touches on a Hall of Fame career by ending up in Denver. He does not think Aaron Rodgers will do the same.

Manning, appearing on MLB Network as part of the MLB All-Star festivities in Denver, said he believes Rodgers will play this year and will remain in Green Bay.

“I hope he plays somewhere this year. The fact that Aaron Rodgers might not play this year, I can’t fathom it,” Manning said. “He’s too good of a player, too fun to watch for the fans. I personally hope it’s in Green Bay. That’s what I see him as. I hope they can make amends and work it out. That is team is so close, if he were to leave there it’d be a major change, obviously, for them. My gut is he’s not coming to Denver. My gut is Denver’s gonna have Drew Lock or Teddy Bridgewater be their quarterback. At this point, you’ve kind got to know what your plan is. You can’t be having a new quarterback three weeks before the season.”

Rodgers himself says he’ll figure out what he’s doing in the next few weeks.

  1. Time will tell so I wait instead of guessing all the time. This is getting old.

  2. Rodgers stopped talking to his family years ago. If he could walk away from his parents and brothers then he could walk away from the Packers. He is built different. No way does he end his career as a Packer.

  3. For a guy who everyone says is a strategist, I’m not really sure who Aaron Rodgers thinks he’s fooling at this point. A trade this late, he’d have no knowledge of the playbook or any chemistry/timing at all with his new team.

He’s either playing for Green Bay this year or retiring, and we all know he’s not retiring.

  4. Agree .. all this media speculation is baseless and tiresome. Manning has been in Rodgers shoes and his thoughts on him are spot on.

  5. At this stage in the game ‘Aaron knows what Aaron wants,’ and it’s ATTENTION.

  6. Remember when Favre was in his last few years and he just expressed how much he hated OTAs, and mini-camp, and training camp? This is all just one big ruse by Rodgers + Packers mgmt to give him an excuse to skip all the this stuff and give him an extra long summer vacation. He will report halfway through training camp, him and Mark Murphy will give a joint press conference and say “all is well, nothing to see here folks”, and he’ll jog onto the practice field same day.

  7. Manning is a class act.

    5-time MVP and a gentleman.

Can’t say the same about Rodgers.

  8. I dont see this as a ruse by Packers management. I suspect that Aaron Rodgers passive aggressive behavior is worse behind the scenes, and the team has lost patience. And, I also suspect that the team isn’t going to give Rodgers what he wants, because this is not a battle they are prepared to lose. They would let him retire before potentially trading him, and he have success elsewhere.

  9. i guarantee the people complaining about Aaron Rodgers will miss him if he doesn’t play this season.

  10. The only outcomes as of right now: stay and play as a Packer or sit out. I think he’ll play.

Let’s be honest is it really getting old for you if your the very 1st comment at 6:30 in the morning…

  12. See ya July 27th A-Rod!

Real Packers fans support whoever wears the G on their helmet.

Aaron loves Wisconsin, and Wisconsin loves Aaron!

Aaron knows all this, and people who matter also know.

    OneTeamOneNation

    PackerNation!

  13. The worse outcome is he shows up to just collect a pay check and starts making far more on-field “business decisions” why take a chance with getting hit when you can check it down or throw the ball into the grass.

Personally, I think he has something lined up in TV that will come near to compensating his not making money in GB.

  14. Maybe Manning and Tebow can go hang out on some oasis the next 20 years where they share their hopes and aspirations just with each other. We really don’t deserve being subjected to either one’s irrelevance at this time.

  15. I remember hearing Peyton Manning say he would hate to see Peyton Manning leave the Colts because that is what he saw him as.

  16. Did one of you goofs actually say “Aaron loves Wisconsin”? Wow. The dude will never set foot in that state again once he is on another team.

Colts fan here. Peyton can suck it!

    —————————————————-
Peyton released by the Colts after drafting Luck

Peyton wins 4 straight division titles

    Peyton wins 2 AFC Championships

    Peyton wins NFL MVP

    Peyton wins Super Bowl 50.

    ………………Yeah, I’d hate him too.

  18. Peyton has a mentor relationship with Drew Lock so I am sure Peyton hopes Drew Lock gets a chance to develop in Denver.

  19. Brady has twice as many Super Bowl Titles as Manning and Rogers combined. 7-3

  20. Drama Queens win only one or two SBs. (Manning, Rogers) Brady won 7 ! Joe won 4

  21. lmao peyton class act.
how many out of court settlements does rodgers have?
also I watched the bachelorette when his brother and father were on and I would have left them in the dust as well.

Huge Brady fan here, GOAT for sure, but since Brady left the Pats, he has been the biggest Prima Donna in the league LOL!

  23. Amazing how many people Peyton still fools with his aw shucks routine. He perfected this game long before Rodgers, way back to when he dodged the Jets coming out of school. The Mannings are the most self-interested QBs to ever play the sport and you still write their excuses for them, it’s as mesmerizing to watch as always.

  24. Longtime Denver fan here(25 yrs). So many moving pieces here & it looks like GB love drama. Peyton knows what Denver is going to do as does Rodgers. What does Rodgers really want? Some SB rings period not money nor fame he is beyond set for life. But he looks at TB & Peyton and the HOF and sees he is way behind the curve due to poor drafts at GB and how they treated Favre. As usual, only a few more weeks will tell us the outcome. And yes while AR can hold a grudge with the best of them, he will play for GB this week or have an understanding with mgt ie is Love the future or will AR win a SB?

  25. Rodgers stopped talking to his family years ago. If he could walk away from his parents and brothers then he could walk away from the Packers.

Why do people insist on bringing this up? You have no idea the circumstances involved yet you’re sure it’s Aaron’s fault. Seems you just want to believe that, regardless of the fact that his family are ultra-religious bible thumpers who belong to a cult-like sect of Christianity. As someone who also walked away from some of the nuttier folks in his family I can certainly identify and definitely wouldn’t judge without facts. But that’s what anonymously posting on the internet is for isn’t it?

  26. I think trade infers a second party is involved. The Packers aren’t involved. Rodgers isn’t going anywhere.

  27. Welcome him back with open arms…then when the season starts bench him and let him watch his replacement….he is a whiner..

  28. To trade Rodgers, the acquiring team has to put up some serious assets. What is Denver willing to give up to get Rodgers? Whatever they feel comfortable giving up will not be enough for the Packers. People act like trading a player is no big deal, Green Bay isn’t going to let him to for peanuts.

This game has been being played long before Aaron Rodgers ever played and it’ll be played L-O-N-G after he leaves, there’s not many fans that have ever left the game over one player, no matter how good he was and not many ever will, it’s all about the game, not any one player NO MATTER WHO THAT PLAYER IS(WAS), BRADY, BREES OR MANNING!
True fans back their team not necessarily that teams players.

Using your logic… Larry Fitzgerald would need to become a drama queen, so he can win one or two SBs. After 17 seasons, he has no SB rings.

  31. Peyton knows Elway will try too get Rodgers to take a pay cut but Rodgers is not dumb.

  32. Whether Aaron is at training camp in 12 days or not is still a mystery to me. But I’m pretty darn sure (and happy) that he’ll be the starting QB in September. There’s no reason to make his decision public right now just because fans and sports talking heads want the story. He’ll do it his way and the Packers’ management know that’s the way he rolls. The only people who matter here are him and those he deals with directly.
