So much for HIPAA. (That’s sarcasm, by the way.)

The Buccaneers have informed PFT that the Super Bowl LV champions will be using two different wristbands at practice to distinguish vaccinated players from unvaccinated players. According to the team, vaccinate players will wear red wristbands and unvaccinated players will wear yellow wristbands.

As the Bucs begin practicing today, photos inevitably will emerge from the session — and many will be looking for the yellow wristbands. (It’s hard to spot them, if they’re even there, in practice videos posted by the team on social media.)

Running back Leonard Fournette surely will have one. Via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Fournette said on Sunday that he’s still deciding whether to get vaccinated.

  1. Yellow tags for undesirables. Sounds like something straight out of the Third Reich playbook.

  2. Good for the Bucs.

    We’re in the middle of a world-wide pandemic. People need to know who to avoid. This has nothing to do with medical records. As soon as they get infected, we all know who got infected. Better to identify them BEFORE they inflect others.

    Get vaccinated. It’s easy. It’s safe. And we all need to do our part to get rid of this scourge.

    If everyone had worn masks and everyone had been vaccinated, we would be done with that virus, but selfish people are allowing it to remain around, killing and injuring tens of thousands.

    HIPAA Lawsuit coming
    _____________

    How many times does this have to be repeated? HIPAA does not apply to employers gathering information about their employees. Employers are allowed to require employees to get physicals and publicize those results. Employers are allowed to conduct drug tests and to tell the public those results. And employers are allowed to require employees to have vaccines and to publicize those results.

    Employers have a responsibility to the consumer public to provide a non-contagious business environment. Employers also have a responsibility to their healthy employees to insure their safety.

  4. The yellow wristbands should have the HIPAA logo on them. Since that’s yellow’s favorite word despite not knowing what it means.

  5. HIPAA is not about patient rights it is about how we store and protect private medical information. Making players were wristbands is the same as asking them to publish their medical records online. Vaccination status is private and should be protected information.

  6. Thank you for the memories of a great championship season last year, but I’m tired of this leftist garbage.

  7. It should be easy to tell the vaxed vs. the unvaxed. The vaxed will be the players running around completely healthy and the unvaxed will be the players laying in their death beds gasping for their last breaths. Isn’t that what the vaxed crowd is telling us? And before you jump to conclusions about me, I’ve been vaxed. I just believe in the freedom of the USA and letting folks make their own decisions. Maybe those of you in the pro-vax mob could try it sometime.

    Remember when medical records were supposed to be secret
    ——————————————————–
    This isn’t as much a medical record as it is an IQ test.

  9. Being an American comes with the expectation your neighbor will go shoulder-to-shoulder with you against an in-common and dangerous foe. The alternative is downright unpatriotic. “Freedom, For Me Only.” Thanks, neighbor.

  10. NOW instead of being divided by race (color) as it were in the mid 1900s, it will be accepted today to be divided by color of bracelets.. So much for Team unity!

  11. Unfortunately vaccine resistance has zero to do with science and public health and everything to do with political tribalism and vaccine misinformation. Vaccines are safe, effective and have been accepted treatment for generations. General Washington used a smallpox vaccine to help win the Revolutionary War. Look it up. It’s possible we wouldn’t even be a country without a vaccine.

  12. Not a bad idea for society in general. With standardized intelligence testing phased out, could be used for college admission, hiring, etc.

  13. It’s all fun and games until somebody’s ineligible to get the vaccinations child gets the virus from someone exercising their personal freedumb. Step up, if not for your own self interest, for someone you may know and respects children.

    So many clueless dolts. Schools require vaccination records. Airlines now require Covid record if traveling outside of country. The U.S. requires a negative Covid test to enter country (even for Americans that have been vaccinated).

    Why do so many of you think being American means freedom to do whatever the hell you want?! It does not.

  15. Vaxed people are “protected” correct? So why are all the vaccinated people concerned with my body and if I am vaccinated? You’re “safe”…. right?

  16. The FDA has yet to approve a Covid vaccine. Let that sink in. All are experimental and unproven.

  17. What if mRNA proteins cause blood cancers? No one knows yet. Who would have thought that asbestos and acid reflux meds would cause cancer?

  18. Radar8 says if everyone had worn masks and everyone had been vaccinated, we would be done with that virus, but selfish people are allowing it to remain around, killing and injuring tens of thousands.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    I think the last three words is where the problem lies. It doesn’t fall under HIPAA because that law deals specifically with medical personnel but there are plenty of state and federal laws that may be at play here.
  20. The U.S. requires a negative Covid test to enter country (even for Americans that have been vaccinated).
    ——
    Because being vaccinated does not mean you can’t get covid.
  21. The NFL’s Scarlet Letter. Perhaps putting Prynne on all non vaccinated players is more their style…..
    THEAirborne Avenger
  22. Not really sure how the Bucs are getting around the Governor’s executive order that businesses within the State of Florida cannot ask about – nor require – vaccinations.
  23. So many Faux News talking points, so little time. It is really sad to see how easily so many are manipulated into not believing the experts–scientists and doctors–but instead listen to ignorant talking heads and politicians. How hard is it to Google the NIH website and get the facts? Or is NIH part of the liberal, socialist, leftist, radical conspiracy?
  24. Haha, you are correct they are listening to when Biden and Harris said they would not get anything that Trump developed, reap what you sow. Politicians no matter what party getting Involved will make people tune out. Even more hilarious the ethnicities that the left court for votes are the majority of the ones rejecting the vaccine. Maybe people can think for themselves.
  25. More Faux misinformation “…Biden and Harris said they would not get anything that Trump developed…” They never said that, what they and most others said they wouldn’t take it if Trump forced the FDA to approve the vaccines before the necessary testing was completed. Trump wanted the vaccines released before the election so he could use it a a political point, he didn’t care whether the testing was finished. Once the initial testing was finished and use approved, Biden, Harris and every other intelligent person had no problem with its use.
  26. @billzbub Ironic you provided misinformation. These vaccines are only authorized for emergency use. They are not yet approved by the FDA.
    Can I go to your kid’s school and request their vaccination records? Can I ask the airline to share your status? No! Once again HIPAA is HOW your records are handled and the requirements regarding handling the privacy of those medical records. HIPAA has nothing to do with your rights. It is about the privacy of your medical information including your vaccination status. Your employer can request that information but they must protect it and definitely can not share it.
  28. What if mRNA proteins cause blood cancers? No one knows yet. Who would have thought that asbestos and acid reflux meds would cause cancer?
    Who would have thought over 600, 0000 Americans would die from Covid-19? Who would have thought a SAFE and free vaccine that is proven to prevent hospitalization and death would be refused by so many people?
    COVID-19 is now a disease of the unvaccinated.
    Thankfully the state I reside in has the second highest vaccination rate after Vermont.
  29. Flordia is infested with Covid that moron Governor loves Covid be smart stay out of that state .
  30. Okay whatever drugs you anti vaxxers, are taking I want some. Because you pepole are living on another planet.
  31. All for a “pandemic” which the survival rate is 99.7%. And the most common “protection” from said “pandemic” is a bandana from the dollar store. Yup. A real medical emergency.
  32. People who refuse the vaccine are selfish cowards. Let’s just call it what it is. Making baloney excuses for putting others at risk. Whinging over precious “HIPAA” and whining about privacy when lives are at stake.
    Get the shot, you gutless rabble. This thing is serious and it needs all hands on deck, not hiding under the covers.
    I remember when 3,000 lost American lives mattered on 9/11. Now we have people thinking themselves to be patriots as they casually dismiss 650,000 dead Americans, and counting.
  34. I just want to know what Florio the “lawyer” would argue on behalf of his clients the “employee? “ Pretty sure in states that aren’t considered “at will employees” they have a leg to stand on by refusing. Not a lawyer here but think there will be a lot of litigation from things like this.
  35. We need wristbands for everyone for all diseases…i need to know what diseases the water has before i eat the food or the girl i take out has before a kiss. Would make life easier lol
  36. I mean if you’re a lineman and have to lineup shoulder to shoulder with an unvaxed player who’s breathing hard….what good does that wristband do
  37. Quid Pro quit nitpicking. You know they were approved. Yes it was emergency use, but we are in an emergency. The initial testing is what allowed that approval. It was an approval, as I said, and it was what Biden, Harris etal were waiting for. Nothing I said was incorrect. Again you keep trying to muddy the water with BS. Quit being disingenuous.
  38. If ebola broke out, would they get shots? Talked to a guy last night that caught Covid at college, lived through it and still decided to get a shot without any hesitation.
  39. a majority of the people that i run into in my daily life that refuse to get vaccinated are trump fans and fox news watchers. coincidence?
    just saying.
  40. If this virus is so dangerous then how have all these variants been allowed to enter the country? Why no quarantines for in coming flights, trains, and cars. Why would our government allow all these people to enter the country with these variants? Must be so that they can infect others. Or am I missing something?
    I would like to hear from all the vaxxers why this was allowed and not prevented. Does not make sense at all.
  41. Good for the Bucs.
    Im a pilot we are all mostly vaccinated 8 of my close friends all vaccinated have gotten covid again. So just avoid everyone you are going to get covid again. Oh by the way since we were all working through the pandemic it was worse than the first time they caught it.
  42. Is if Brady feels he is TB12 protected from such maladies, do we see him in yellow … or do the Bucs tweak this policy and exempt the QB room? That will be interesting.
  43. If this virus is so dangerous then how have all these variants been allowed to enter the country? Why no quarantines for in coming flights, trains, and cars. Why would our government allow all these people to enter the country with these variants? Must be so that they can infect others. Or am I missing something?
    ____
    All these variants and people? You do realize it would only take ONE person to bring the variants to the states and then it can spread. Thats how a virus works.
    Also, who says the variants came from another country? The virus mutates if left untreated so it may have mutated right here in the good ol USA. Thats why getting the shot is important.
    Any international traveler entering the United States has to show proof of vaccination and a recent negative covid19 test, no exceptions. The border with Canada has been closed for over a year. No one is coming into the United States by land, sea, or air without confirmation of being covid19 free.
    The variants are being created right here by the anti-vaxxers. They are solely responsible for the further spread of the pandemic.
  45. The only variant spreading faster then covid currently in the US, is stupidity, man the different levels of stupidity in this country is sadly astonishing. This certainly is showing that science and biology weren’t taught well enough over the years in our school systems.
  46. The NFL is a multi-billion dollar business. It will do whatever it takes within the current the extent of the law to protect its image, shield and of course its profits. If some players refuse to get the vaccine because of their “personal choice”, the NFL will do whatever it can to out them, shame them, and of course get rid of them. No one player is bigger than the behemoth that is the NFL. You Best believe, the NFL will win.
    The bracelets are the new scarlet letter for the unvaccinated. If a certain team experiences an outbreak and had to forfeit a game, guess where the fingers will point?
    If you are a fringe player, you Best believe you are a goner. If you are a superstar, then the NFL will probably resort to ANY means necessary to protect its profits.
  47. Football in the NFL is about availability. If you find yourself infected, you risk infecting others. The ones who aren’t vaccinated are doubling the risk of getting sick(missing more time) and infecting others.
    In the end you’re on the wrong side of the equation because you are increasing the odds of a loss or forfeit.
