Most Steelers are vaccinated; running back Najee Harris isn’t

USA TODAY Sports

Sorry HIPAA.

At a time when some NFL players are incorrectly citing a federal law regarding medical privacy as the basis for not commenting on whether they’ve received the vaccine, their vaccine status necessarily is being disclosed by their teams.

In Pittsburgh, where the vast majority of players have gotten vaccinated, those who haven’t gotten vaccinated are wearing a yellow wristband. Photos emerging from training camp show first-round running back Najee Harris wearing a yellow wristband.

Harris, who seems to be very at ease with reporters, inevitably will be asked about the situation. Whatever he says, there will be no escaping the reality that the presence of a yellow wristband means that he has yet to get the vaccine.

  1. Get with the program Najee. Don’t be that guy that just has to be different.

  2. The unvaccinated talking about HIPAA is a sure sign of their ignorance. It is obvious that they never consume any legitimate information sources, or they would know that HIPAA does not apply to revealing vaccination status. The anti-vaxxers have been fed the easy talking point of “but HIPAA” and they faithfully regurgitate that line without any understanding of what they are talking about.

  6. To read the ignorant posts is saddening. Hi body, his choice, don’t cave to the fear mongering. Getting very sick or dying is not usually anyone’s choice nor is the fear thereof “fear mongering. He is clearly being mislead by whatever his sources are and will not be able to flourish within the Steeler organization due to the lack of inclusion in meetings, film sessions, etc. Talent can only take you so far. All pros are coached up to the max and learn the game through both coaching, fellow teammates and film sessions. Not only is he putting his health and life at risk, but his professional career.

  8. Just some food for thought, if he has gotten the first shot, there is a 14 day waiting period for the next dose. No one said he hasn’t received a shot at all. Speculation leads to misinformation. There is a chance he has the first dose and is waiting for the second. Still not being fully vaccinated, from my understanding is cause for the yellow bracelet..
