The Ravens worked out three edge rushers on Monday. They are signing Chris Smith to a one-year deal, agent Drew Rosenhaus announced.

Dion Jordan and Shilique Calhoun were the other players who worked out for the Ravens.

Smith, 29, has 9.5 sacks in seven NFL seasons. He had one sack and four quarterback hits in eight games last season for the Raiders.

Smith also has spent time with Jacksonville, Cincinnati and Cleveland. The Jaguars made him a fifth-round choice in 2014.

In his career, Smith has appeared in 68 games with two starts. He has totaled 72 tackles, six pass breakups and 23 quarterback hits in addition to his 9.5 sacks.

  1. I hope he’s on the field when they play the Browns. He can’t tackle. Chubb is going to literally have a field day.

It baffles me how the Browns fans talk so much crap. It really does. The two teams have played 44 games against each other. The All-time series goes to the Ravens, 33–11. I am pretty sure some of the 11 Browns wins came against back-ups as the Ravens probably had clinched a playoff berth. Anyway. Keep talking. Talk is cheap.

  3. Edge is the biggest weakness on The Ravens. Don’t think this guy is the answer.

You must be 10 years old. We talk smack because the Ravens ARE the Browns. You took our FRANCHISE and left us with an EXPANSION team 4 years later. It takes decades to build franchises. So yeah, we’ve been bad for a REALLY REALLY long time and now we’re hungry.

Bob Irsay with no notice snuck out in the middle of the infamous snowy Baltimore night and took our beloved Colts too in 1984. We, here in Baltimore know what heartbreak is. Irsay took the name, trophies and all the Colts history with him. At least Art Modell did not do that. I know it’s tough, But, you can’t dwell on the past. We had to wait for another team for 12 years. Imagine that! Having no team to root for for 12 years. When the Ravens finally came to Baltimore, we embraced them and loved them. We are thankful that they have built a legacy and a winning culture. I sympathize with the Browns fans, but you have to move on.

No it doesn’t. Browns come to Baltimore in ’96 we turned the roster over in 5 years and won a Super Bowl. Liked it so much we did it again 12 years later. Just takes good people and a great owner.

You were not an expansion team. You were given an established franchise and it still took you 5 years.
