Aaron Rodgers has returned to the Packers, and Randall Cobb might not be far behind.

The quarterback apparently will get his wish to get Cobb back on the Packers.

The Packers are working on a trade with the Texans for Cobb, Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports. Texans receiver Brandin Cooks tweeted: “You meet people and they become family right away!@rcobb18 go back home and set it off.”

Rodgers showed up to training camp Tuesday after reaching a compromise with the Packers. A report Monday indicated one of his demands was a trade for Cobb.

Cobb, 30, caught 470 yards for 5,524 yards and 41 touchdowns in the eight seasons after the Packers made him a second-round choice in 2011. He played 2019 in Dallas and 2020 in Houston.

  1. The packer WR room is so bad outside of Adams that Cobb might instantly be option #3 behind Adams and Big Bob Tonyan.

  2. Even with all the leverage in the world I bet the Texans only get a 7th rounder…

  3. We will see what happens, but Randall would be welcomed back with open arms. Not only one of Aaron’s best friends, Randall is a great player, and great teammate.

Would be a perfect mentor for Amari Rodgers. Randall in the slot is something Aaron missed. I have heard Aaron also liked the Amari Rodgers pick. Amari will for sure be a starting return man. Obviously he also has a shot to have impact at WR. Randall will only make him better more quickly.

  4. Can’t wait to watch Rodgers try to force to Cobb all year so he can look like he got what he wanted.

  5. How inept is the current WR crop that Rodgers wouldn’t come back unless they picked up a player that had only 38 receptions for 441 yds last year? Dude only has ONE 1,000 yd season in his 10 year career.

  6. Awfully demanding for a star qb that has only won 1 SB, like 10 years ago. Granted though, I wanted the Browns to try and get him since he was unhappy with the Pack, so we could finally have a real chance at a SB appearance finally but we are keeping a guy who can’t beat Chad Henne instead…

  7. Lookit the Viking fans all worked up because they were convinced they might get to grab second place in the division this year with Rodgers out. Sorry guys, stuck at 3rd for you.

  8. Jordy Nelson is somewhere saying, “hmmm…I better start stretching just in case…”

  9. Cobb WAS great with the Packers. Maybe GM Rodgers can sign him for the veteran minimum so this deal actually makes sense.

  10. Aaron Rodgers was upset the team cut a career practice squad /#5 receiver journeyman whose name I can’t even remember, and demanded they trade for a late-career Randall Cobb, who has never been the same since a series of lower-body injuries sapped his explosiveness.

If this is his eye for talent and roster building, I don’t think he would make a very good GM.

  11. Yesterday they couldn’t wait to get rid of Rodgers, today they say the Pack is back? What a ridiculous fanbase.

  12. Word is BG and RS are working on a deal where GB trades for Kimsris and then package him in a deal with Cobb for Justin Jefferson.

  13. Slow and old….Cobb is washed up..should of traded Rodgers when they had the chance…I would bet money Rodgers get laid out and hurt this year from the offensive line not blocking for him, dissing the entire team playing his diva crap…Hollywood Diva

With Cobb’s contract, the Texans have ZERO leverage. Signing Cobb to that contract was the second worst personnel decision Bill O’Brien made as GM and that is saying a ton.

  15. I’m cool with seeing what we got in Jordan Love.honestly. This dude better bring us a championship. Love Cobb, just hope the chemistry makes up for it.

Rodgers does not want Cobb back because his recievers are inept,he wants Cobb back because Cobb is one of his best friends and on this Packers team he only has a couple. He will get Cobb back but can Cobb actually make this team as all other recievers are all younger, faster, cheaper and better than he is.with all the many contracts of great players coming up they need the Cobb money to keep this team together and Rodgers isnt helping but hurting.

  17. I really have no idea whether Cobb has enough left to be very productive in this offense. He was once a great player but this game takes its toll. Yet he may be worth a roster spot for team chemistry and as a mentor for Amari Rodgers, a young talent who loves the guy. Veterans like him and Marcedes Lewis bring a value that goes beyond stats. Without that leadership even a talented team will fail. Role players and role models are not undervalued in the locker room.
