With Aaron Rodgers at camp, Packers are back to being NFC North betting favorites

For a brief time over the weekend, the sports books were beginning to believe that Aaron Rodgers really might retire from the Packers, with sports books either taking Packers bets off the board entirely, or shifting the odds significantly. Now that Rodgers has put that speculation to rest, the Packers are back to being the betting favorites in the NFC North.

On Friday, PointsBet Sportsbook had the Packers at +115 favorites to win the NFC North, with the Vikings just behind them at +190. By Saturday, PointsBet had shifted the Vikings to the favorites at +125, with the Packers behind them at +160. Once Rodgers’ return was confirmed, PointsBet made the Packers heavier favorites at -140, with the Vikings moving to +225.

It’s easy to see why the Packers are favorites with Rodgers back: The Packers have won the NFC North two years in a row, and seven of the last 11 years.

As for the other two teams in the NFC North, the Bears are +500 underdogs to win the NFC North, while the Lions are extreme long shots at +2500.

  1. Just so I am following – are they suggesting Rodgers is better than Kurt Cousins?

  2. The Bears are their closest threat but until they can solve for Rodgers–which they haven’t shown they can do in like, forever–the division belongs to the Pack.

  3. With Rodgers playing they should be the favorite. The difference this year is that the overall NFC will be better, injuries notwithstanding.

  4. If the Vikings O-line plays like they’re capable of playing, the Vikings will win the NFCN running away. You heard it here first. I’m glad Rodgers is back with the Packers, because I don’t want their fans making excuses when the Vikings take the NFCN.

  5. Are we really that good or is just that the rest of the NFC North teams are bad. It’s easy to come out on top playing teams with losing records but the true test will be when we play our equals, and when it comes to that, we seem to fall short.

  6. Bookmark this page and check back in January…Packers will be sub 500 and third place….

  7. But what have the Packers done to improve their team this off season? No, Cobb is not the answer. I’m serious. Anything at all? The Vikings offense was very good last season, and they drafted OL with their first pick. The Vikings defense was very bad last year, and they’ve made many moves to improve that unit, including getting back Hunter and Kendricks from injury, and Pierce (opted out).

  8. I do enjoy seeing Bears fans. They are high end fans.

I am at Stadium View Bar right now for lunch. One Bears fan was in here just totally depressed. I explained to him how much better the Bears are than the Vikings and Lions. The Bears will win 10 games for 2nd place in the North. He felt better after I laid it out for him. The Bears are a team on the rise. I really respect our only rival in the division. Team & fan base.

The Packers win a minimum of 11 games and win the division as usual.

That would explain why you comment on every single Vikings article, mention the Vikings on Packer articles, and try super hard to convince us you aren’t thinking about anything but the Vikings.
