Friday brings a new tight end to the Bills roster.

The Bills announced the signing of Bug Howard. No corresponding move was needed to make space for Howard in Buffalo.

Howard was undrafted out of North Carolina in 2017 and signed with the Colts as a free agent. He didn’t see any regular season action with Indianapolis and has also spent time with the Browns, Panthers, Broncos, and Jaguars without getting into any games. There was also a stint in the AAF mixed in among his NFL gigs.

Dawson Knox, Jacob Hollister, Nate Becker, Tommy Sweeney, and Quintin Morris are the Bills’ other tight ends.

  1. Bills player policy 1A: Unless drafted by the Bills you must have been affiliated with the Panthers for 1 business day.

  2. I only read this post because of the guy’s name, “Bug.” I know nothing about him, but he deserves some kind of respect for persistence. Entering his fifth year, he’s never seen the field for a single play of an NFL regular season game, and he’s getting a shot with his sixth NFL franchise, with five guys ahead of him already on the camp roster, and they’ve already got a head start. Good luck to Bug. It just shows how tough it is to make an NFL roster. So many guys are right on the fringe but fall through the cracks, and a lot of them are probably plenty good enough to play in the NFL. Here’s to the guys who keep trying.

  3. If the Bills could lure McFarland out of retirement they would have both a bug and a booger.
