Aaron Rodgers not interested in a farewell tour with Packers

It may ultimately play out that the upcoming 2021 season is Aaron Rodgers‘ last as a member of the Green Bay Packers. But Rodgers isn’t looking for a Mariano Rivera style send off campaign should that eventuality play out.

I don’t want a farewell tour,” Rodgers said Wednesday, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. “I don’t know what’s going to happen after the season, but I’m going to enjoy it with the right perspective, for sure, and not look at it as I’m getting through this. I’m going to enjoy the hell out of all of it.”

While the Bears, Lions and Vikings would all likely line up to give him parting gifts to leave the NFC North, Rodgers is just going to soak up everything from the upcoming season just in case it does happen to be his final one in Packers green. It’s a similar approach to how he handled last year after the team made Jordan Love their first-round pick.

“I’m glad that I enjoyed every moment, I’m glad that I led exactly the way I wanted to lead and looked for those conversations with certain guys that needed a pick-me-up at different times. I took the headphones off and enjoyed the surroundings and the road trips and the time with the guys. Yeah, it’s a good template, for sure,” Rodgers said.

  1. Good advice for Aaron from the great philosophers Lennon and McCartney: ” ….. and in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make.”

  2. I think his plan; is to win a SuperBowl this year, return for the opportunity to win it two times in a row, do it, then retire on his terms. I’m guessing that’s his plan.

  3. Great presser yesterday after practice. Aaron never disappoints when he gets in front of the mic.

Last season he was focused and won the MVP.

This season he is 100% focused on bringing home another Lombardi. “This can be a very special season.”

He does “not know what is going to happen after the season.”

When he does discuss this season, he gets a fire in his eyes. This team is going to go scorched earth over the entire NFL.

  4. Why not??
    It’d be all about you,rodgers.
    As usual.

How dare him answer a reporter’s question in a thoughtful and intelligent fashion.

  5. Pretty sure, he’s interested in anything that gives him attention. He’s made it quite clear that he wants out, but has no choice but to do one last dumpster dive in Green Bay.

  6. The Scorpions and Kiss have been having farewell tours for years, even Favre’s farewell tour didn’t seem like it wanted to end until the Packer organization ended it. So let’s hope Rodgers is out the door for real. Zero tolerance for his Diva antics here. Win or lose, it’s time for us to bring Love in.

I’ll take things that will never happen for $1000 Alex.

No amount of wishing, hoping, and praying will make this happen.

Have you looked at how much they are over the cap for next year( of course you haven’t) There is no way they can keep the band together next year should they win it all this year(they won’t)

  8. Why the heck have a farewell tour when there is no certainty there will even be a farewell?

Best laid plans of mice and men. Oh, and why hasn’t this been his “plan” for the last ten years?

  10. C’mon man he’s saying that so it doesn’t overshadow the upcoming season, regardless it will. I think tis going to be a dark cloud over him all year long. It will be easy to take when the Packers are winning BUT let’s see how it plays out when the Packers start losing. INTs, WRs dropping catches etc.

With all the hype this past off season from the media and Rodgers playing coy, it could be a Rodger’s Farewell Tour because of his play, which I don’t’ even think will be close to MVP caliber.

    Then What?
