Carl Lawson has been the subject of much praise at Jets training camp, so there are a lot of people in the organization holding their breath on Thursday about his condition.

According to reports from the Jets’ joint practice with the Packers in Green Bay, Lawson has been carted off the field. Lawson suffered an apparent left leg injury and there are no further details about the edge rusher’s status at the moment.

Lawson signed a three-year, $45 million deal with the Jets as a free agent this offseason and dispatches from Jets camp have been filled with notes of his pass rushing success in the team’s practice sessions.

The Jets will be hoping that he’ll be back in those sessions soon because their defense will be down a potent weapon if Lawson is out for an extended period of time.

  1. Wow, thahts horrible news. I hope he’s ok.
He was very good a few years ago and got hurt and has been working his way back up.

  2. This is terrible. He seemed primed for a big year. Hopefully it’s not as serious as it seems but it doesn’t look good.

  3. The Jets are snake bitten, they’d have no luck if it wasn’t for bad luck. They’ll be in the top 2 picks in next years draft.

  4. That’s awful and hopefully it isn’t serious. I’m a lifelong Bengals fan and loved him when he was here, as a player and person, and I expected him to be outstanding for the Jets. Keep your fingers crossed!

  5. Terrible for Carl Lawson, and terrible for tbe Jets who were relying on him in a big way to boost the pass-rush.

Hopefully he’s OK, but the reports don’t sound good.

  6. I don’t wish any injuries on anyone. These guys work so hard for years and years to get to this point. They have a small window of time to play and even smaller opportunities. A WR in high school will practice catching 100 balls a day for a year to literally get 2-3 passes in a game. If you’ve never played you have NO idea how much time they put into it. Good speed on your recovery.

    Probably a cheap hit by a Packer…
    _______
Or maybe he bumped into Everson Griffen at a local hotel?

  8. “Probably a cheap hit by a Packer…”

Actually, the only cheap shot in the practices was delivered yesterday by the Jets’ Jarred Davis.

Brian Costello reported that it was a low hit after the whistle by a Packer player, nice try though.

  10. The one injury I’ve always feared. Scares the crap out of me, and I’ve done ACL/MCL/PCL/Shoulder. Achilles somehow seems so much more painful. Hopefully he is okay.

Something he learned from Anthony Barr?

  12. Why are people stating it was a dirty hit? It’s football and in football injuries like this happen.
I hope it’s something he can come back from very soon.
