Eagles coach Nick Sirianni liked what he saw from Jalen Hurts in last week’s preseason action, though the quarterback played only 10 snaps. Hurts was expected to play more tonight but unexpectedly won’t see any action.

Hurts warmed up with his teammates before the game against the Patriots, but Joe Flacco started.

The Eagles announced Hurts is ill.

It is unknown whether it is related to COVID-19 or not.

On the third snap, center Nate Herbig sailed the snap past Flacco. Flacco briefly recovered before fumbling it again. Jalen Mills recovered for the Patriots at the Eagles 9, and Damien Harris ran it in from there on second down.

The Patriots lead 7-0.

UPDATE 8:09 PM: Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports Hurts’ illness is not COVID-19 related. The Eagles later confirmed it.

  1. Hurts does not belong in the NFL. He’s way to small with a weak arm and he’s not a great runner. You can’t be those three things and make it the NFL.

  2. By the end of the season hurts could be the best qb in the nfc….said no one ever……eagles won the luckiest sb in the history of the NFL.

  3. Eggles have picked up right where they left off last year. They will be fighting the Giants for the bottom of the division.

  4. Remember, in college, when Hurts got benched for Tua? That pretty much sums it up.

Yes better than Brady, Wilson, Rodgers by miles

  6. I think the entire Eagles team needed to go to the hospital after last nights performance.

With Dak’s injury, Hurts may be the best QB in the division.

    You misspelled Ryan Fitzpatrick.

  8. After Flacco’s performance last night, I’d be on the phone with the Bears. Hurts should be named QB1 and Foles should be back as a true mentor and reliable QB2. I know, I know, he will command too much$, but at this point Flacco’s $6MM is nothing more than salary in a burn barrel. Another point, I don’t view Hurts as the type of personality that would feel threatened like thin skin Carson.
