Dak Prescott is not going to play in Saturday night’s exhibition game against the Texans at AT&T Stadium, but the Cowboys quarterback threw around 50 passes before the team’s pregame warmups.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones refuted any idea Prescott might not be ready to play in the season opener Sept. 9.

“He threw with authority and accuracy before the game,” Jones told 105.3 The Fan before the game, via Jon Machota of TheAthletic.com. “If we were lining up against Tampa tonight, he’d be starting, and we’d feel great about it.”

Prescott pulled himself out of practice July 28 with pain in his throwing shoulder. He did some light throwing Aug. 7 and again Aug. 10 in training camp before getting in some pregame work with Amari Cooper and Ezekiel Elliott before the Aug. 13 exhibition game against the Cardinals.

He returned to practice this week, and the Cowboys expect to build up the volume of his throws in practice next week.

Prescott has not seen game action since Week 5 of last season when he dislocated and fractured his right ankle.

  1. In other news, Jerry Jones feels like 7-10 is an outstanding accomplishment and further example of why the Cowboys are America’s preeminent sports franchise…

  2. he says that as if that will have a positive influence the outcome of the game.
    .
    so sorry jerry…

  3. Calling it right now. The league is going to investigate Dallas after week 1. EVERYONE is going to complain about how Dak lit up the Buccs and accuse us of concealing his wellness misleading everyone to think Dak was more injured than he actually was. It took a month last season for the rest of the league to catch up to Dak’s stats when he got hurt. Say hello to the number one offense. 2021-22 Dallas Cowboys. Dak and company win by 14 against the buccs.

  4. EVERYONE hating on us wishes they had that receiving corps . And our young offensive lineman . And Micah Parsons coordinating that D
    And a top 10 QB.

    What stat would that be…..1-3?

  6. There’s no doubt Dallas has a talented offense, if mostly healthy, they should win some games. Of course there’s the defense… I’ll say 9 or 10 wins.

  7. ..because he’s good enough, he’s smart enough. And gosh darnett, people like him was the end of Jerry’s reasoning I believe.

  8. Jerry freakin’ out now. Just gave the kid a big contract after the ankle injury and now this!

  9. What Jerry said: {See above}

What I hear: “Please, please , PLEASE don’t give up your season tickets again this year.

“Also, your popcorn will be half price at $7 a bag, we will reduce the price of a chili dog to $10, our crappy nachos with a tiny bit of cheese and salsa will be available for the low, low price of $16,and we guarantee you will never wait more than 75 minutes to use a restroom.”

  10. “If we were lining up against Tampa tonight, he’d be starting, and we’d feel great about it.”

Tampa D would feel great about that too.

  11. I hope he comes back 100% too. So when the Cowboys get beaten down they have NO EXCUSES.

  12. Because not only is Jerruh the Cowboys GM, Jerruh is also the Cowboys team physician.

  13. The Cowboys are irrelevant. I’m glad they arent my team and they are definitely not America’s team
