Report: Ravens close to trading Shaun Wade to Patriots

USA TODAY Sports

It looks like the Patriots will bring in some competition for their secondary.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Baltimore is close to trading rookie cornerback Shaun Wade to New England.

The Ravens selected Wade in the fifth round of this year’s draft out of Ohio State. He was a first-team All-Big Ten selection last year.

Wade intercepted Saints rookie quarterback Ian Book in Baltimore’s first preseason game. He’s played 35 defensive snaps across the first two exhibition matchups.

For the Patriots, Wade provides more depth to a unit that still has star cornerback Stephon Gilmore on the physically unable to perform list.

  1. I don’t get the Ravens. EDC must be fearless. They traded one of the Best young, but experienced tackles in Orland Brown to Kansas City to be their long term answer at left tackle and now they are trading an outstanding top prospect to the Patriots. I don’t understand why making your foes better is beneficial to the Ravens. Does the NFC not make any deals wit the Ravens? I get that they might be offering more than other teams in the NFC, but I will not trade a good player to anyone in the same conference. Period.

  2. The list of what BB can’t draft is getting longer and longer , but it amazes me the DUMB Pats fans can’t see it….

BB fleeced Baltimore numerous times in the past, hopefully this is no different.

Really? How did he actually fleece Baltimore? Are you referring to the Jermaine Eluemunor trade? Didn’t the Ravens get a 4th round pick after trading ermaine Eluemunor and a sixth-round pick to New England for the Patriots’ fourth-round pick? Guess where Jermaine Eluemunor is right now? He was just release by the Dolphins. Not good enough to make the first cuts. The Ravens later packaged the pick with a 2020 second-round pick to acquire New England’s Nos. 71 (Justin Madubuike) and 98 (Malik Harrison) picks.
    So, who got fleeced exactly????

  4. This guy got tourched every time I watched Ohio St.

Also had terrible body language almost looked to quit a few times in game

Gotta be why ravens trading him. Won’t last long in NE

Love to see the facts presented to the Click Bait Master who calls other fan bases dumb…..good job. Facts are not seen on Pats treads very often

  6. Maybe it was the time the Ravens traded up for Kyle Boller and the Pats ended up with Wilfork.

  7. Decosta gave up a player taken in 5th round who probably was not going to make the team, for a 5th round pick that is likely to be a higher pick, plus a 7th round pick, which he earlier gave up for what looks like their 3d team TE. I would say he did OK.

If Wade turns out to be great, then balance shifts to NE, but at the moment that is highly speculative.

What? That wasn’t even a trade between the two teams. Also, got anything from this decade?
I don’t think I’d be gloating about the Patriots drafting abilities compared to the Ravens, because there is no comparison. At all.

  9. Kyle Boller. You had realize you had to go back 18 years to find an example of the Ravens making a mistake. Kinda helped make the point.

  10. Lol. I didn’t have to go back 18 years to remember, it’s just the one that makes me laugh the most. A probable HOFer for a bust. Actually, in that trade between the 2 teams, the Pats also got Eugene Wilson. Started as a rookie and was a very good player for the Pats. I understand Ravens fans being a little sensitive. The Ravens have always been the Pats little brother.

  11. Pats fleece Ravens? Remember adalius Thomas. I know it wasn’t a trade but what the Pats and the rest of the league need to realize is if the Ravens let a defensive player, especially a LB walk that means they are done. See CJ Moseley. Keep your eye on Matt Judon. Pats way overpaid for this guy. No one can teach the Ravens anything about evaluating defensive players

  12. Judon is a monster. His best years will be with the Pats. Ozzie Smith(who Belichick trained) is long gone.

Not even close in drafting? It’s not even close in Super Bowl Rings.
    —————–
Pats got VERY LUCKY in the sixth round of the 2000 draft. That is the sole reason for their success.

  14. Judon a monster? LOL guy is guaranteed for one bone headed penalty each game at the most inopportune time! You’ll see…Ravens don’t let talent walk out the door. He registered almost all his sacks in garbage time or against sub par competition. Have fun with that one – cheers!
