Patriots starting quarterback Mac Jones won’t have N'Keal Harry to throw to when the regular season begins.

The Patriots are planning to place Harry on injured reserve and have him miss a few weeks, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Harry suffered a shoulder injury while trying to catch a deep ball from Jones in a preseason game and has been out of practice since.

Although Harry requested a trade before training camp, Patriots coach and General Manager Bill Belichick said he never discussed it and expects Harry to be a major contributor in New England this season.

  1. This is pretty good news for him, because I think after most Patriots fans saw that injury, they expected him to miss the entire season with being cut.

  2. I thought injured reserve had to miss 5 or 6 weeks; or is that PUP list? I get confused with all the “lists” and classifications.

  3. Seems like he’s running out of chances to show viability but rookie deal lasts thru 2022. Ugh.

  4. Entering his 3rd season, Harry has played in 21 games with a total of 45 catches for 414 yards. Losing patience with this guy…

  5. This is becoming a bit soap-opera-esk! Hope he recovers fully. If the Pats don’t play him maybe he can get a chance somewhere else.

  6. Bust. Belichick is losing his touch.

The pick was actually made at Caserio’s strong insistence. Glad he’s gone to Texans now.

  7. Looking forward to seeing his first season and first full camp with a real QB instead of diva QBs.

Should be part of a loaded overall offensive group.

  8. Well, I’ve supported the kid for a long time…. He’s been in a bad patch of luck the 1st 2 years but I’ve seen glimpses of what he COULD BE in some of his time on the field….I sure hope he can focus & get his head on straight because he finally has a true opportunity to show he’s worth the effort now that he has Mac as his QB & a full off season toget the offense down…. I do want him to succeed because if he & Mac can form a connection this year he just might surprise a lot of those out there calling him a bust….Harry 1st has to stay healthy though for that to happen….it’s now or never as far as I’m concerned with him…. NOW OR NEVER!!!

Wow. No you’re in the war room too? I doubt anyone but bill has the final say. This guy is horrible.

  10. I know this looks bad. But IMO, Bill B does not see him as a “bust”. Especially when many other teams keeps calling and inquiring about his trade viability. I suspect Bill sees him growing more into a big target/motion TE threat for Mac Jones, akin to what Aaron Hernandez was. He may not match up well with speedy corners. But he could become a nightmare for Linebackers and Safeties. I trust Bill B to play this out a bit more with Harry.
