Aaron Rodgers: I think loss is just a good learning lesson for us

Sunday’s 38-3 loss to the Saints was the most lopsided loss of Aaron Rodgers‘ NFL career and it was a painful one in more ways than one.

Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show that he took a “double nut shot” on the first of his two interceptions in the game, which was a lot like how the entire game felt for the Packers. Rodgers said that the team watched the film of the loss on Monday and will “flush it” as they turn their attention to a Monday night game against the Lions in Week Two.

Rodgers added that “the response” is what the team’s has to focus on rather than spending too much time with their minds on the loss.

“It might be a freak out outside the facility,” Rodgers said. “I think it’s just a good learning lesson for us. We can’t play like that, we can’t start a game like that. Like I said after the game, our energy level was a little bit low before the game. We have to do a better job responding to adversity. There’s not much to say. We got our asses beat by 35 points, we’re all frustrated about it, but just move on. We have 16 more to go.”

Rodgers said he had someone try to make “chicken salad out of chicken s–t” by telling him that the Buccaneers lost to the Saints 38-3 before winning the Super Bowl last year, which may not be predictive of what will happen this season but is a good mindset to have about one game not determining your entire season.

  1. Rodgers didn’t have his normal great performance, and the team got thrashed. In other words, without Rodgers having his usual great game, the team is really bad. I guess you’d say Rodgers has carried this team for 15 years or so.

Well, then 3-14 will be like getting a PhD!

    Damn, you stole my thunder.

  3. Have your wife tell you she is leaving you at the end of the year, but let’s make these last four months great and then see how it goes.

  4. Rodgers needs to STHU. Everyone is tired of his excuses and analytics. Especially Bradshaw who said on Sunday his only job is to play QB not get involved in management decisions. Take care of your job not others.

  5. Unfortunately he will be a MVP candidate by halftime playing against Detroit’s terrible defense.

  6. If they lose to Detroit at home I’d be in favor of going with Love the rest of the way.

  7. We have been told aaron just oozes “California Cool”.

Maybe it would be better to be pissed off and competitive. Or maybe the league could just invent new rodger rules to help him.

  8. “Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show that he took a “double n** shot”…”
That’s called a Discount Double Check, Aaron.

  9. He needs to get on brand for his next career. “Double Nut Shot” should be referred to as the Daily Double.

  10. Low energy levels? Sounds like the packers need Doug flutie and Frank Thomas to come help them out.

  11. Interesting how the worst guy on the field last week is so quick to emphasize how WE played how WE need to learn from this. Has Rodgers taken ANY accountability for his loss??? No wonder everyone hates him. And I’m sure his teammates are starting to as well.

  12. I always said the way for the Saints to beat Aaron Rogers was to control the offensive line of scrimmage and put immense pressure on him on defense. That’s just what they did. It wasn’t just Aaron. Their running game was stopped. The Saints were all over their receivers and James had great protection. Geaux Saints!

  13. When they lose next week we will know Man bun has officially checked out. Look for Detroit to cover and GB goes 0-2

  14. Welcome back to 2013, Aaron.

You’re going to have to put up 35/week to overcome your horrible D-coordinator.

  15. “I don’t care what you have to say, aaron.”

    Comments about it anyway……..

  16. I don’t care what you have to say, aaron.

Maybe don’t click the link, read the story, and post about him.

Maybe try listening to the interview first instead of judging all 30 minutes on one snippet posted here. The first thing he said was how awful he played. Just cause pft didn’t post it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. But what fun is that right? Knowing things is for suckers.

  18. A midseason loss by a few points can be a good thing for a great team but getting spanked 38-3 in the first game of the year and making Jameis Winston look like the second coming of Johnny Unitas isn’t good at all.

  19. Ya the bucks had a great defense and head coach ot blow off the loss and move on. You have nothing but Adams and if the lions double him and play man you got nothing

  20. As a die hard Packers fan living in the Bay Area, one been a fan of Rodgers since his Cal days. He choked in the NFCCG and needs to own his own belief that he’s the best player in the NFL, especially since he’s been playing games against the front office all year long. Time to step up Aaron and show this team it’s a team-; and not your own mind game.

If you want out, be a man and say so.
