Giants running back Saquon Barkley stepped on Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons‘ foot in the first quarter and had to be carted to the training room.

Barkley initially was listed as questionable to return, but the Giants quickly downgraded him to out.

He has an ankle injury, and a closeup of Barkley’s ankle on the Fox broadcast showed noticeable swelling.

Barkley limped off after an incompletion on a quick slant with 6:17 left in the first quarter. The team’s medical staff called for a cart on the sideline, and Barkley limped to it for the ride to the training room.

Barkley had two carries for 9 yards before leaving.

The Cowboys lead 3-0 after the first quarter.

  1. I see what Chao wrote and he may be right. Same thing happened to my ankle and I wasn’t completely ‘back’ for one full year. I had trouble jumping and cutting until then. I was also casted for a longer period than Chao said Barkley will be out.

  2. Saquon’s season, the Giants’ season, and my fantasy season all ended in 1 play. Sigh.

  3. The word, “saquon” is taken from the Latin, “saquonius” which loosely translates as delicate and brittle.

  4. This is terrible, but also why I would never draft a RB higher than the third round. Also could help the giants as they won’t feel the need to give the ball to him 17 times for a 2.7 yard average.

  5. I could say Saquon still has a bright future ahead of him but Gruden may call me “rubber lips.”

  6. This is why you don’t take a RB no matter how good with a #2 overall draft pick. Go with a player that will be with your franchise for at least 10 years, a pass rusher, a QB.

  7. If it swelled that quickly it’s more than likely a high ankle sprain and he’ll be out 4-8wk depending on the severity of the injury, but it could be as long as the rest of the season. I’ve had about a dozen high ankle sprains and I remember the worse one I had and it took 15wks until I was back to 100%, it took over 8wks until I could walk on it without limping.

  8. Thought He was going to be a great player messed up My fansty week going to lose🥺🥺🥺🥺

He probably already did… 10 years ago though.

  10. They have showed the injury now fewer than 20 times, but at least it keeps the two idiots from blabbing on about Dak’s injury from last year.

  11. Watch the Giants sign him to a massive extension. He has been a total bust except Rookie year.Roids

  12. This isn’t personal but he’s a bust. A top 3 OVERALL pick that isn’t available most of the time is one regardless of position. If you’re a RB where you only can call yourself great if you’re durable, and there every week he is not. He is not really even all that close to that standard. And that’s why any RB since he could be one car crash away from the IR is not worth losing the value of a first round pick these days. 20 years ago yes. In 2021 No.
